SUMMER ADULT BIBLE STUDY SERIES
“God just wants me to be happy.” “God helps those who help themselves.” How many times have you heard these sayings in secular culture or from a professing Christian? Despite their catchy, positive appeal, these sayings and others like them have dangerous implications for Christian theology.

Come join Pastor Ungemach as he presents our summer Adult Bible Study series "10 Lies About God." Class is at 9:30 AM in the sanctuary. Together we will learn how these inaccurate beliefs distort our relationship with God and offers loving, Bible-based corrections that we can apply in response. The study includes ten lessons to help us respond to false teachings about God and defend what the Bible teaches:

Lesson 1: God Wants Me to Be Happy
Lesson 2: There Are Many Ways in God’s Presence
Lesson 3: God Has Grown Softer on Sin
Lesson 4: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves
Lesson 5: God Has Made Death a Natural Part of Life
Lesson 6: A God of Love Wouldn’t Send People to Hell
Lesson 7: It Doesn’t Matter How God Made the World
Lesson 8: God is Distant and Disinterested in What Happens
Lesson 9: I Don’t Need the Bible or Worship to Have a Relationship with God
Lesson 10: God Doesn’t Judge Anyone, and Neither Should You

SHORELAND UPDATE
Shoreland Lutheran High School will open its doors this year on August 23. We praise God that we will begin the year with another record enrollment. More and more people are recognizing the importance of a school that offers both quality and Christian education. By God's grace Shoreland will once again provide parents and students with a biblically grounded, Christ-centered, and gospel-driven educational experience, along with an education that is one of the best in the state of Wisconsin. Shoreland is a 5 star rated school according to the state's accountability report card and finds itself in the top 3% of all high schools in the state of Wisconsin when it comes to academic growth. We thank the Lord for these amazing blessings and for your partnership as a member of a Shoreland Federation congregation!  Please keep Shoreland in your prayers as we, compelled by the love of Christ, embark on another year of educating, equipping, and encouraging students for lives of Christian service.
Shoreland Lutheran High School's opening service and installation of new teachers will take place on August 24th at 8:00 am. We would love to have you join us as we kick off the school year under the theme Walk in Wisdom (I Corinthians 1:30)

PARISH COUNCIL UPDATE - July 20, 2022
DIVINE CALL ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
~ for strength, comfort and healing for our sister Lorraine Lemke.

~ for the Spirit's clarity, peace, and guidance for Pastor John Derme and Joshua Kramer as they deliberate the divine calls they have before them, and for the peace and comfort to their families and congregations as the Lord guides the process.
PRAYER OF THE WEEK

Heavenly Father, when I am tempted to love and enjoy the things you have given me in this life, remind me that you are my highest joy. Do not let me enjoy the things of this world as ends in themselves, but rather let me use them almost absentmindedly, as one whose tunnel vision craves incessantly for the full enjoyment of the eternal life with you. "Those who use the things of this world" should only use them "as if not engrossed in them" (1 Corinthians 7:31). Keep my eyes fixed on you, without whom nothing brings any real or lasting joy. Amen.
