NEW SUMMER ADULT BIBLE STUDY SERIES BEGINS JUNE 26
“God just wants me to be happy.” “God helps those who help themselves.” How many times have you heard these sayings in secular culture or from a professing Christian? Despite their catchy, positive appeal, these sayings and others like them have dangerous implications for Christian theology.

Our summer Adult Bible Study series "10 Lies About God" begins next Sunday, June 26th at 9:30 AM in the sanctuary. Together we will learn how these inaccurate beliefs distort our relationship with God and offers loving, Bible-based corrections that we can apply in response. The study includes ten lessons to help us respond to false teachings about God and defend what the Bible teaches:

Lesson 1: God Wants Me to Be Happy
Lesson 2: There Are Many Ways in God’s Presence
Lesson 3: God Has Grown Softer on Sin
Lesson 4: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves
Lesson 5: God Has Made Death a Natural Part of Life
Lesson 6: A God of Love Wouldn’t Send People to Hell
Lesson 7: It Doesn’t Matter How God Made the World
Lesson 8: God is Distant and Disinterested in What Happens
Lesson 9: I Don’t Need the Bible or Worship to Have a Relationship with God
Lesson 10: God Doesn’t Judge Anyone, and Neither Should You

DIVINE CALLS
Call Acceptance Letter - Keith Kopczynski

June 15, 2022

Dear Pastor Raddatz, Assistant Principal Lofsness, and congregation members of St. John,

Days of prayer and deliberation have led me to accept the Call to join the faculty of your school as the fifth and sixth grade teacher beginning with the 2022-2023 school year. I am humbled by this opportunity to become a part of your mission to bring God's Word to another generation of His people.

As I deliberated this Call, I was amazed by the number of congregation members who reached out to me through phone calls and through email messages. I have been a teacher in WELS schools for more than three decades and have received many Calls through this time. However, the sheer number of people who sought to communicate with me and with my wife Priscilla was a shining example of the ministry of your congregation. Your prayers for me during these days are heartwarming.

I request your prayers for the ministry at Faith Lutheran in Antioch. Though as a congregation they are moving in new directions, I believe God's promise that much can still be accomplished to win souls to Him in the Antioch area and beyond.

Copies of this letter are being sent to Pastors Rademann, Kolander, Ungemach, and Hermanson in their various capacities within the SEW district.

I look forward to meeting more of you in person as the weeks pass.

In His service,
Mr. Keith Kopczynski
Call Return Letter - Pastor John Stelter

June 16, 2022

Dear brothers and sisters for whom our Savior gave his life,

I have decided to return the call to serve as your pastor at Faith Evangelical Lutheran church. During this time of great challenge and opportunity, I am confident that the Lord will bless Pastor Ungemach and your entire church family with what you need to continue his kingdom work in Antioch. I pray that the Lord of the Church will soon call and lead the next presiding pastor into your midst to assist with the important work he has in store for you. I would have counted it a privilege to fulfill that role. At the same time, there were issues here in our congregation at the present time that pulled me very strongly. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to consider your call. I wish you all God's blessings as you wait for God's timing and trust in his mercy and peace. This same mercy and peace will sustain us all in Christ during these times of change and challenge!

Your Brother in Christ,

Pastor John Stelter

PRAYER OF THE WEEK

Lord of the Exodus, when you passed through the land to strike down the Egyptians, you saw the Passover lamb's blood painted on the Israelite's door frames and you passed over them, not permitting the destroyer to enter. You graciously give me your Son's very body and blood to put, not on my door frame, but in my own unworthy mouth. I know you will see it and keep the destroyer away from me. Yes, this is my deliverance, my assurance against every plague, and my joy in the face of all injustice. Thank you for Christ's body and the blood! Amen
