There are many weeks still available. Once the 2024 chart is posted, you may write in your requests. Envelopes for dedication donations are provided for your convenience. They are located to the left of the Flower Chart in the pocket just under the donation instructions. | |
In September we embarked on a three-month stewardship challenge. Part I served as the foundation for the challenge as it encouraged us to spend more time in God’s Word. Part II of the challenge encouraged us to put our faith into action by living a life for others. Part III encouraged us to show hospitality to others. Part IV—the final part— builds upon those earlier challenges and encourages us to live a life more shrewdly. An important part of being shrewd is acting intentionally or with purpose. Indeed, to act without purpose makes it impossible to live the God-Lived life that God wants us to.
For this challenge, please consider attempting several of the following:
- For children: Set aside allowance money each month for three purposes: 1. Church 2. Charity 3. Savings
- Tithe 10% of my income to church this month
- Evaluate my percentage of giving and increase if motivated
- Choose a new charity to support
- As a family, donate gently used items to charity
- Participate in a financial planning course
- Make a special contribution to Faith Forward to help pay down our church mortgage
- Give a gift for special outreach work at church
- Create or update my will to include the support of God’s work
- Schedule a meeting with a WELS Christian giving counselor to talk about supporting God’s work (wels.net/givingcounselors or mcg@wels.net)
- Save for an emergency fund
- Ask a member I admire as a godly example for advice on living shrewdly and handling the gift of finances
- Write out a family budget, evaluating the necessity of each expense, including a list of goals for our money
May God bless us as we grow in his Word and in our lives of living it!
Yours in Christ,
Shawn Wietbrock

PRAYER OF THE WEEK
Our heavenly Father, we praise you for the multitude of blessings we have received and for the many happy memories that have come to us. Help us focus our attention on the good, the true, and the beautiful. We thank you for new friendships and old ones, for opportunities to serve, for the joys of home, and for the love of those who care. Though our physical strength decays, help us keep close to you so that our spiritual strength may be renewed day by day. Teach us to face our declining energies with patience. Lord God, our Father, take from us all fear of the future. As your dear children, we place our lives in your hands and, with faith and confidence, we walk the remaining paths of this life with you. Let your peace rule in our hearts today and through all of our tomorrows. We pray in the name of him who lived and died for us and now lives eternally, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
