LGTBQIA+ Diocesan Affinity Group
The Episcopal Diocese of Rochester is creating affinity groups around areas of interest and passions. One of the groups that I serve on is the LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Team.
We are looking for lay members who are interested in serving on this team as well.
If you are interested, please contact me at leslie@stthomasrochester.org.
Ordination, Saturday, May 31
Lydia Arnts, our soon-to-be Associate, will be ordained this Saturday, May 3, at
St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. Lydia will be ordained a transitional deacon, which means she will serve as a Deacon for at least six months before being ordained
as a priest. During this period, she will be able to serve liturgically as Deacon Andrea does until she is ordained as a priest.
Lydia will be ordained a transitional deacon with two other colleagues, Maria Hartz-Clineburg and David Justsum. Joel Wilbur will be ordained a priest in the same service. Please keep these folks in your prayers as they covenant with God, God's church, and our Bishop in this new part of their journey. I will represent St. Thomas'
on Saturday! We look forward to welcoming Lydia on Sunday, June 22.
Faithfully, Amma Leslie+

Sunday School
God Is Always with Us
This Sunday marks the final Sunday in the 50-day season of Easter. Next week, we will celebrate Pentecost, also known as the birthday of the church, with an ice cream social!
Previously, we learned about the apostle Paul,
a man who changed his name and his heart toward Christians as he traveled extensively to share the message of Jesus. This week, however, Paul and
his companion Silas find themselves in serious trouble. They have been thrown into jail, and to make matters worse, there has been a terrifying earthquake! We will discover what happens next in Sunday School this week. We hope to see you there!
Contact Maggie Detty at loganchem@aol.com with questions or for further information.

Book Discussion
Join us virtually on Thursday, June 12, and Thursday,
June 26, at 7:00 p.m., as we honor the death of Pope Francis, by reading his groundbreaking encyclical, Laudato Si.
Laudato Si' significantly impacted the Catholic Church by
fostering environmental activism, raising awareness of the interconnectedness of social and ecological issues, and encouraging a deeper spiritual appreciation for creation.
The encyclical prompted the creation of new environmental organizations and has become the de facto Christian argument for fighting global warming.

Habitat For Humanity Benefits From Your Donations
Spring cleaning? Bring your used clothing and home textiles to the St. Pauly Textile donation shed at Grace Church, located at 805 Blossom Road. Your donations support our annual effort to build a Habitat for Humanity house. Please ensure all items are clean, dry, and placed in tightly tied plastic bags.
Looking for a volunteer opportunity once or twice a year? We need 3-6 volunteers to assist with the maintenance
of the shed, making the work easier for everyone involved. The shed is maintained for one week, every other month, in collaboration with other churches in the Brighton Churches Habitat Coalition. We are also excited to announce that a new shed will be built for the Coalition later this summer and will
be located at Brighton's Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church on Winton Road.
Contact Carolyn Mabb at 585.314.3892 or tcecm8@gmail.com if you would like to join the crew. A good back is helpful, as lifting is required. A good back is helpful as lifting
is required. Lisa Hand, who has maintained this shed for over 15 years, claims she has built good core strength through this ministry. Carolyn and Lisa look forward to hearing from you!
