Message from the Safety office

Hello everyone,

How did you celebrate Labor Day weekend? Were you at the State Fair enjoying the new foods or did you just sit back, relax, and have fun with friends and family? Regardless of how you spent it, know that you’ve earned it. Labor Day was created as a way for everyone to give thanks to those that help build this country, you.

For us and at this point of the season, Labor Day seems to mark the beginning of the end of the season. There is a lot of work left to complete this season and must be completed safely and with high quality. Continue to focus on high hazard items such as excavations, confined space, overhead lifting, and traffic, but we can’t forget about the basics of safety. Wearing all your required PPE, identifying hazards prior to the task, and communication, are all things that may seem small, but they are critical for a great safety culture. Once the small things start to get overlooked, the bigger items start to falter as well.

Keep up the great work, stay focused, and looking forward to a strong September!

Project Spotlight - Grand Forks Aiport

Park Construction was awarded the removals, earthwork, and aggregate portion, as a subcontractor for the Grand Forks Airport Main Runway project in Grand Forks, ND. This project consisted of removing 22,000 ton of concrete, excavate and grade 30,000 cubic yards, and placing 32,000 ton of aggregate base. There were many challenges that went along with this project from available working space to time constraints for completion. With only a 12 day window for substantial completion, this left Park with only 5 days to complete their work. Hats off to our hard working and dedicated operators and laborers for completing another successful and safe project with time to spare.
