Join us: Experiential Fellowship Program Launches at February PC Power Hour

For: Career Services Liaisons, Scholar Advisors, and Primary Relationship Managers

Does your institution want $15,000 (per program year) to fund inclusive fellowships for your Scholars?! Attend February’s PCPH to learn about our new initiative and how your institution can participate in TheDream.US Experiential Fellowship Program!

To participate in this program, Partner Colleges must create an experiential fellowship program that is inclusive to undocumented students regardless of work authorization.* The goals of this program are to:

  1. Provide TheDream.US Scholars with paid experiential fellowship opportunities that focus on educational and/or professional development of the Scholar
  2. Incentivize Partner Colleges to develop and fund paid inclusive fellowships that are available to undocumented students regardless of work authorization
  3. Develop a sustainable program that does not rely on funding from TheDream.US
  4. Please review this Experiential Fellowship Program Concept Paper for more information.

*Partner Colleges who already have existing inclusive fellowship programs – or want to expand upon an existing fellowship program to make it inclusive, are also eligible to participate in this program.

Recording: ITINs Open Doors - How do I get one? Session #1

This week, we held our first ITINs Open Doors Info Session for Scholars and Alumni who are not eligible for a SSN. Our Guest Speaker is UNLV Professor Francine Lipman – her expertise is in ITINs and tax law. Please watch and/or share the recording here.

More Resources to share:

  1. We've created this webpage to house the materials that are being shared in the ITIN campaign.
  2. We'll be hosting 2 more Info Sessions where Scholars can get information on ITINs and ask questions. See flyer for sharing here.

Please encourage Scholars and Alumni who do not have a SSN to check out these materials and attend the zoom sessions.

TheDream.US Reacts to Bipartisan Introduction of Senate Dream Act

Last week, TheDream.US issued the following statement from Gaby Pacheco, Director of Advocacy, Communications, and Development, reacting to the introduction of the Dream Act in the U.S. Senate:

“Today’s bipartisan introduction of the Dream Act, by Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), offers another opportunity for Congress to deliver on a popular priority two decades in the making. Of course, we understand the skepticism about another attempt to pass legislation for Dreamers. Despite overwhelming polling in support of such a legislative fix and the demonstrated successes of programs such as DACA that provide new opportunities for Dreamers, Congress has repeatedly failed to pass the Dream Act."
