DACA at the Supreme Court Telephonic Briefing - Nov 13
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral argument in the consolidated  Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) cases   on Tuesday, November 12th. As we know, the continuing legal limbo is weighing heavily on  DACA recipients   across the country.

To help colleges understand the court case and implications for DACA students, their families, and higher education, the Presidents’ Alliance, in collaboration with  TheDream.US   and key legal partners, is hosting a telephonic briefing entitled,  DACA at the Supreme Court: Implications for Students and Higher Education   on  Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 11:30am est.

Please Note: Due to the Supreme Court hearing, next week will be a stressful and anxious time for our Scholars. Thank you for being open to listening to and supporting them throughout these difficult circumstances. Please refer Scholars to contact our Wellness Advocate here if they need further help.
Updated Immigration Eligibility Criteria to apply for our Scholarship!
Immigrant youth are eligible to apply if they came to the United States before November 1, 2014. We are changing the date from the DACA arrival date of June 1, 2007, because we recognize that an increasing number of high school graduates will not have arrived before 2007.

We are keeping the requirements that an applicant arrived before age 16 and has lived continuously in the US for the last five years to help ensure that our applicants can meet in-state tuition criteria.  All other requirements from last year’s round will remain the same.

In Case You Missed It
TheDream.US Statement on the Extension of TPS
TheDream.US is relieved and happy for our over 100 TPS Scholars. The Department of Homeland Security has extended TPS for the following six countries: El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Sudan through Jan. 4, 2021.

We want to thank all our TPS Scholars, like Noadia a TPS holder from Haiti, who has used her voice to help educate our country’s leaders and community members why this designation is essential for her and our nation; read Noadia’s story   here . We hope that during this time, Congress acts and through legislation allows all TPS recipients a chance to get permanent legal status.

Immigrants Rising: Top 10 Ways to Support Undocumented Students
#1: Engage with an Open Mind

When supporting undocumented students, it’s important to know that there won’t be a single answer or path for all students. Support requires ongoing investigation and collaboration with other service providers and community leaders. When you don’t know something, work WITH students to find out answers so that you can share them with other students and colleagues.
