MUST KNOW

DACA Update- No Changes at this stage

We are aware of the growing confusion surrounding last week’s court activity regarding briefs filed in the Texas Challenge to DACA. Nothing has changed at this stage.

What occurred las week were procedural court proposals and do not change the current status of DACA. Current DACA holders are still eligible to renew every two years. It is highly recommended they submit their renewal 150 – 120 days before their expiration date to avoid any lapses in their DACA or work permit. They can use the DACA Renewal Calculator to determine the best time to renew and our Immigration Fee Loans to assist in covering the cost upfront.

Everyone is encouraged to speak with a Trusted Immigration Attorney before filing a NEW DACA application to assess their personal risks. Current Scholars can accomplish this by completing our Immigration Screening.

For more context watch our President & CEO, Gaby Pacheco's video update and read MALDEF's statement.

SCHOLAR PROGRAMMING

Immigration Screenings with a Trusted Attorney

TheDream.US has partnered with an attorney for a one-on-one immigration screening to inform Current Scholars of any and all potential pathways they may have for a change of status. Over 800 Scholars and Alum have already gone through this safe and easy process. Screenings are confidential and will not affect their Scholarship. Inform your Scholars to start this process today by completing the Initial Screening Request Form. If they have already gone through one of our screenings, they should not submit a new request.

TheDream.US Loans to Pay Immigration Fees

Through our partnership with Mission Asset Fund (MAF), TheDream.US is providing zero interest immigration loans to help Scholars/Alum pay their USCIS application fee for a variety of different renewals and change of status requests. They can request an Immigration Loan, for their DACA/TPS renewals or other applications such as a green card, citizenship, family petition, etc.

Please note: As of October 28th, USCIS will no longer accept paper checks, and all payments must be made electronically. In order to make this adjustment, MAF will need to pause accepting new applications as early as Wednesday, October 8th. We hope to reopen in early November and will keep you informed. Scholars or Alum interested in submitting an application can sign up for reopening alerts.
