"The Partnership with George Wright" premiered on Saturday on WVON

“The Partnership with George Wright” premiered on Saturday morning on WVON at 8am. Danny Marshall joined George for the kick off to the new show series. The first show introduced listeners to George and Danny, The Partnership, and our work. Well done!

This Saturday, November 4, at 8am, The Partnership CEO, George Wright, will be joined by Vanessa Lopez Jackson of The Lemon Ad Stand, Clelia Ferro of the American Job Center in North Riverside, and Lisa Maentz of the American Job Center in Wheeling on The Partnership’s WVON weekly radio show.

The group will discuss the LevelUpAJC.org campaign and topics such as: “How do you ‘market’ the notion of the public workforce system?”, "What is the strategy behind the campaign?”, and “Why in some cases are we still the best kept secret in the region?”

Next up: on Saturday, November 11, George W. will be joined by Joshua Williams of The Partnership, and an Opportunity Works intern and employer to discuss this paid internship program, funded by Cook County.

Level Up Your Career or Power Up Your Business

As we work to no longer be “the best kept secret”, we need your help to continue sharing LevelUpAJC.org on your social media accounts!

We have fliers in English and Spanish available to print out and distribute. Please feel free to send a Project Request Form to request these materials. You may have noticed the outreach in bus shelters and billboards around the city.

Thank you!

Partnership Network Helps Ashraf S. Level Up His Career: Thank you Employment and Employer Services Career Coach

Ashraf S. was laid off as a limousine driver after many years. He was looking for a new direction but did not know how to navigate the process. The Employment and Employer Services Career Coach assisted him with career counseling, labor marketing research, and support services. With support from a Career Coach, Ashraf was able to define his vocational goal: attend truck training school and complete his training on time.

Specifically, the Employment and Employer Services Career Coach assisted Ashraf S. with career exploration including labor marketing information so he could understand the necessary skills and requirements for the proposed vocational goal. The career coach provided one-on-one career counseling and assisted Ashraf with how to navigate the necessary forms.

The assisting career coach was in constant contact with Ashraf to encourage him during his training. The coach helped with supportive services which enabled him to attend the truck training. Ashraf was able to successfully complete his truck training and received his CDL license and certificate of completion.

Share A Success Story

Let's lift each other up! Our colleagues, employers, and candidates are "Our Why". We show up every day because of them. Let's feature the wins and keep encouraging those who need inspiration.

What’s the best way to do that?

Create a word document to send to the communications department. It should be simple and include:

  • Name of success story person (first and last name).
  • Photo (of them “at work” if possible); iphone/android is fine. But, please look at it and make sure it’s not blurry, etc.
  • Be sure the participant has signed a release (comms has them as do all of our agencies).
  • Agency or agencies he/she worked with and HOW the story is tied to The Partnership’s network.
  • The “from - to” such as: she dropped out of school but then became an Opportunity Works intern and now has a full time job with Jones and Jones law firm.
  • Mention that the program is funded with ARPA funds from Cook County if you know funding source.

Potential features can be related to:

November

National Career Development Month

National Apprenticeship Week, November 13 - 19

SHARE A STORY

A Few More Reminders

Submit a Story to the Pulse: We want to hear from you! Share an event or fun story to The Pulse. We're better together so let's share our wins and exciting news.

Saving Photos: Partnership staff participate in dozens of events year-round so share them with us for future use! Instead of only dropping images in the All Staff Teams chat, you can also upload them to SharePoint here.

Outreach Materials and More:

  • The Partnership's PowerPoint templates can be found here. Please avoid using the anniversary template and logo. You may use the non-anniversary branded logo going forward.
  • Please find the latest media release form here. You can also use the QR code here.
  • The Communications Unit has created a virtual library where Partnership staff can check out comms materials (signage, tablecloths, step and repeats, etc.) so we can continue to keep track of items.

Project Request Form Guidelines

Submitting a request via a Project Request Form is an important requirement when asking The Partnership Communications team for support: www.chicookworks.org/prf

Partnership staff should have received an email with updated guidelines and more information about the submission process—especially related to materials created by an outside source. Thank you all for your collaboration on this work. Feel free to reach out to the communications unit with any questions.

Phones/Messages

Despite being hybrid, all staff are responsible for checking voice mail messages at least twice daily. You are expected to be available and are deemed “on call” during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You should regularly be checking email and be every bit as responsive, perhaps even more so than usual. See the instructions below:

  1. Call the voicemail number 312-603-4445
  2. Enter your ID (your 10-digit extension)
  3. Enter your PIN (same as the one you use in the office)
