The Passing of Louis Pataki
November 2, 1941 - November 29, 2021
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Louis Pataki, Foundation Member since 2007.

Louis Peter Pataki, Jr., aged 80 of Rowayton, CT, died peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital on November 29, 2021. He was the loving husband for 55 years of Jane Smith Pataki. Louis was born in Peekskill, NY on November 2, 1941, the son of the late Louis Peter and Margaret (Lagana) Pataki. He was an astronomy professor at NYU for the past 21 years. Louis received his undergraduate and PHD from Yale University and his JD from Indiana University. He had previously taught astronomy at Indiana University and practiced law in New York. Louis, an Eagle Scout, was a Scoutmaster for Troop 2 in Rowayton for many years and a volunteer with the Rowayton Fire Department. He also enjoyed stamp collecting, orienteering and his Hungarian, Italian and Irish heritage.

In addition to his wife Jane, Louis is survived by his son Jonathan Pataki, his daughter Daisy Pataki, grandchildren Kaitlyn, Maggie, Milo and Juliana, brother George E. Pataki and his wife Libby, 7 nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A funeral service for Louis will be held at 11 AM Monday, December 6, at the United Church of Rowayton, 210 Rowayton Ave., Rowayton, with burial to follow at Rowayton Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-4 PM at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his name to the Rowayton Fire Department.
