Dear miSci Family and Friends,

Yesterday miSci trustee, Jane Golub, passed away peacefully. Together with the countless many in the Capital Region who Jane touched with her charm, poise, and strength, we are heartbroken by her loss. On behalf of you, miSci’s patrons, volunteers, staff, trustees, and family, I have sent our sincerest condolences to Jane’s beloved husband Neil, daughter Mona and her wife Marie DeBrocky, grandson Ira, and the Golub Family.

For more than 15 years, Jane passionately and generously championed miSci and its mission. Without her personal dedication and philanthropic commitment, miSci—once the Schenectady Museum—would have closed years ago. Recognizing the importance of experiential learning, Jane tirelessly worked to ensure the institution’s survival, stability, and success. As a trustee and an honorary chair of the Big Bang Gala for more than a decade, coupled with the more than $2.5M in donations from she and Neil in support of miSci exhibits, programs, and facilities, Jane’s contributions are the most significant in the museum's 85-year history.

Jane was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of working with her. A sterling lady with a strong spirit, boundless energy, and fabulous style, miSci owes her a profound debt of gratitude. We will remember not just the titan Jane Golub was as a teacher, businesswoman, philanthropist, and community leader, but also as “Ms. Jane,” who always came to miSci with her sharp mind, quick wit, twinkle in her eye, smile on her face, and endless sense of humor. Whether she came to miSci alone, or accompanied by Neil and family, Jane made all of us feel part of her family too. miSci will honor her legacy for decades to come.

May her memory be for a blessing.
