mindful meditation

I gave myself permission to feel and experience all of my emotions. In order to do that, I had to stop being afraid to feel. In order to do that, I taught myself to believe that no matter what I felt or what happened when I felt it, I would be okay.

You know that you’ve healed an issue when you can talk about it and you’re not weeping, when you can speak to it and identify the lesson. You know that you’ve healed an issue when, having gone through that, has a benefit that you live today.

When you can look a thing dead in the eye, acknowledge that it exists, call it exactly what it is, and decide what role it will take in your life then, my Beloved, you have taken the first step toward your freedom.” – Iyanla Vanzant

Do you know the difference between a Full Moon and New Moon? by Chanel Smith
When the Moon is directly opposite the Sun and the Sun illuminates the Moon, we experience a Full Moon. The Moon is linked to the Divine Feminine and it is during this time she is at her fullest and brightest. Full Moons have been associated with transformation, completion and release. One way to benefit from the energy of the New Moon is to create rituals that will allow you to release negative emotions and patterns. A few rituals to get you started:
  • take a moon bath with crystals, candles, and salts
  • meditate
  • journal
  • take a dip in the ocean

April's Full Moon falls on the 16th and is considered a pink moon. The Full Moon is a great time to clear and charge your crystals by setting them under the moonlight.

Because this is a time of heightened emotions, it's probably a good idea not to make any hasty decisions.

Selenite is named after the Greek Goddess of the Moon, Selene and is a great stone to use during the Full Moon. It supports channeling divine energy and is a great clearing stone thus helping to get rid of negative emotions.

The New Moon occurs when the Moon is between the Sun and the Earth. This energetically intense period is synonymous with rebirth and fresh starts. It marks the beginning of the lunar cycle. During the New Moon you may find yourself feeling unusually tired. This period is about spiritual alignment and is also a good time for reflection, setting intentions but also for starting new projects. A few New Moon rituals include:

  • salt bath with relaxing oils
  • meditate
  • journal

During the New Moon focus your energy on setting intentions and work toward manifesting those intentions. The next New Moon falls on April 30th.

Moonstone and Labradorite are great for manifestation. While Quartz can be used for amplification.
5 Ways You're Using Your Refrigerator All Wrong
by Aaron Kassraie, AARP
Avoid these common mistakes so you'll keep food in your fridge safer and fresher. If the kitchen is the heart of the home, then the refrigerator should be considered the heart of the kitchen. Its cool temperatures keep foods fresh and prevent harmful germs from quickly multiplying, allowing us to keep perishable foods safer and for longer amounts of time.
But just how long foods stay safe and fresh in the fridge can depend on precisely where and how you store them. It turns out there's both an art and a science to organizing your refrigerator. Here are five common mistakes to avoid to make the best use of this indispensable appliance.

Mistake 1: Storing raw meat and poultry on the top shelves.
Put items that require lower cooking temperatures on the top shelves and foods that require higher cooking temperatures, especially poultry, on the bottom shelf. The reason: If something leaks or spills it won’t contaminate food that may not get heated to a temperature hot enough to kill harmful germs, according to StateFoodSafety, a food safety training company. For example, the safe minimum cooking temperature for poultry is 165 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), but it's only 145 degrees for seafood. Leftovers and casseroles should also be heated to 165 degrees, so store them on the bottom shelf, too.

Mistake 2: Keeping your eggs on the door shelf
Foods stored on the door shelves fluctuate in temperature moreso than those kept inside the fridge, so avoid putting perishables there. Keep the door closed as much as possible, recommends the USDA, to prevent temperature drops. Also note that even when the door is closed, the temperature inside the refrigerator tends to be higher on the top shelf than the bottom shelf, so keep eggs on lower shelves where it's colder.
