Homeward Bound’s Monthly Newsletter
June 2026
| | | It's Summer at Homeward Bound | | |
Summer is in full swing at Homeward Bound. Gardens are growing, residents are exploring the community, and exciting new initiatives are taking shape across our organization.
This season we're especially excited to launch Adventure Club, a new initiative designed to create opportunities for recreation, travel, connection, and belonging for the people we support.
Here's to Summer!

Adventure Club is all about creating opportunities for people with disabilities to experience the joy of exploration, recreation, and community connection.
From zoo trips and camp experiences to concerts, vacations, sporting events, and outdoor adventures, Adventure Club helps make meaningful experiences possible.
Our goal is to build a community of 250 monthly donors who will help establish the Adventure Club Fund and remove financial barriers to participation.

Building Better Spaces Together | |
Thanks to INSTALL Floors Training Center and Sonus Flooring, residents at Independence House recently received beautiful new flooring through a generous community partnership.
This renovation improves safety, accessibility, comfort, and pride in the place residents call home.
| | | Growing Community Together | | |
The growing season is underway at Homeward Bound's Community Built Garden.
Volunteers, residents, staff, and community partners are working together to cultivate fresh produce, build relationships, and create meaningful experiences throughout the summer.
This year, our goal is to double our harvest.

| | | A Day at the Minnesota Zoo | | |
Residents from several Homeward Bound homes recently kicked off summer with an exciting visit to the Minnesota Zoo.
The day included exploring exhibits, connecting with friends, and creating lasting memories together.
Experiences like these demonstrate the power of recreation, inclusion, and community engagement.
| | | Creating Connection From Day One | |
Planting the seed of belonging begins on day one. Homeward Bound is launching a new bi-weekly New Hire Welcome Gathering designed to help employees connect with one another, learn more about the organization, and build relationships across departments.
Hosted by Human Resources, these in-person gatherings provide an opportunity for new team members to meet colleagues, hear organizational stories, ask questions, and begin building connections that strengthen both their professional experience and our culture.
At Homeward Bound, we know that people do their best work when they feel welcomed, supported, and connected.
Creating opportunities for relationship-building from the start helps foster engagement, collaboration, and a stronger sense of belonging across the organization.
Employee deserves to know they are part of something bigger.
Help us welcome our newest hires to Homeward Bound!

Strong organizations are built by strong leaders.
This July, Homeward Bound team members will once again participate in the ARRM Forward Annual Conference, one of Minnesota's premier leadership and professional development events for disability service providers.
This year, Vice President of Operations Grant Haley will lead a breakout session titled: Developing the Leader Within You
The presentation will focus on personal leadership growth, professional development, and practical strategies for building leadership capacity at every level of an organization. Investing in leadership development strengthens our workforce, improves services, and helps ensure Homeward Bound continues to grow and innovate.
When we invest in leaders, we invest in the people who support others every day.

30 Years of Impact
Built on Trust, Care, an Community
| | |
For 30 years, HBI has been part of thousands of moments that matter.
Moments where families finally found support. Moments where individuals gained independence. Moments where residents formed friendships, discovered confidence, traveled, tried new experiences, and found places where they felt truly at home.
The impact of accessibility is deeply personal. For many families, it changes everything. It changes what daily life looks like. It changes what independence feels like. It changes what becomes possible for their loved one. And often, it changes what the future feels like for the entire family.
