Daniel Fohner '19, with Carroll President Francis E. Fox '77
Daniel Fohner ‘19, received and accepted an appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He will start his training on June 27, just three weeks after graduation.

During the summer of 2019, Daniel will be learning how to shoot, march, sail and other Navy skills during Plebe Summer, preparing to join the Brigade of Midshipman in the Fall. He plans to pursue a degree in engineering.

Daniel will be joining his brother, David ‘17, at the Naval Academy. David, a mechanical engineering student, has summer training plans including trips to Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as further exposure to the communities of the fleet.
Last summer, David had the opportunity to go on a month-long survival trip along the Appalachian trail, as well as join a submarine crew in the Pacific.

"We are very proud of all the Fohner boys and especially Dan for his recent acceptance into the Navel Academy," said Carroll President Francis E. Fox '77. "There is little room for error as you build your resume to be be considered for such a prestigious institution
and Dan has done an exemplary job in all facets of his life to achieve this honor."

Daniel’s oldest brother, Matthew ‘16, is a junior mechanical engineering student at the University of Pennsylvania. He will be leading a humanitarian aid trip to Guatemala this summer with Engineers Without Borders. At Penn, he is very involved in an engineering fraternity along with serving as a Teacher’s Assistant.

Daniel’s youngest brother, Mark ‘25, is looking forward to attending Archbishop Carroll and to carry on the tradition of his brothers.
Archbishop Carroll will host its fourth annual PatrioTHON Dance Marathon to support The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Catholic Charities, and Catholic Relief Services. PatrioTHON will be held on Friday, Feb. 22, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Tickets are on sale in OSA during lunch periods. All-Catholic Concert performers shine
Several members of Carroll's Music Program participated in the Archdiocesan All-Catholic Concert Band Festival Sunday, Feb. 17, at Cardinal O'Hara High School. The students were lead by guest conductor Dr. Wesley Broadnax from Drexel University and spent the weekend working with him to prepare for the festival.

Students performed works by Ralph Vaughan Williams and John Philip Sousa, among others. Carroll musicians in attendance were the second most amongst all Archdiocesan High Schools and held several first chair positions within their sections. Kathleen Carpenter is a four-year member of the group and held first chair clarinet each of her four years (pictured below with Mr. Fox).

#PatriotProud  Good luck this season to Sam Swart '17, a Sophomore on Syracuse University's Women's Lacrosse team!

Sam Swart looked around Gary Gait’s office, and her eyes wandered toward a small box on top of one of his bookshelves. Gait and Swart’s mother, Maryann, were talking about a potential verbal commitment to Syracuse when Swart walked over and opened it.

As the lid slid open, Swart opened her mouth: “Wow, really?” They both turned her way, pausing their discussion. Swart observed the mob of Gait’s rings — conference titles, NCAA title runs and professional accolades. Maryann told her to put them back. But Gait laughed. In seconds, Swart filled her tiny hands with the jewelry, one ring per finger until they were filled.

“When she had those rings on,” Maryann said, “she felt like a champion.” Read more
