Carroll students recognized at Honors Convocation
Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald, the Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia who oversees Catholic Education in the Archdiocese, was the main celebrant during a Liturgy of the Word on May 17, preceding the 39th annual Academic Honors Convocation at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

The event honored graduating seniors from 33 Archdiocesan and private Catholic high schools, including six from Carroll, for their academic excellence

Congratulations to Kathleen Maginnis '19, who won a secondary scholarship from the Charlotte Drummond Memorial Scholarship committee, which was very impressed with her application and dedication to her community. 

Francis Bowe named new Head Boys Basketball Coach

Francis Bowe has been named Carroll's new Head Boys Basketball Coach. He comes from Valley Forge Military Academy, where over the last five years, he has guided the Trojans to their most successful basketball seasons in school history.

“Coaching and being part of the Archbishop Carroll family is a dream opportunity,” Bowe said. “I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity of coaching here, and I look forward to building on to the success of the basketball program!" Read more
Girls lacrosse wins 18th straight PCL title
Carroll's domination of the PCL continued Monday, May 21, when the Girls Lacrosse team routed O'Hara 18-3, advancing to the District 12 title game Wednesday, May 23. The victory marked Carroll's 18th consecutive league title. The win also qualifies the Lady Patriots for the PIAA State Championship.

In other LAX news, Carroll's Rachel Matey was named PCL Girls Lacrosse MVP.

Katie Detweiler '18 named Under Armor All American
Congratulations to Katie Detwiler '18, named to the Under Armour All American team. She is among the top seniors in the nation, and will compete in the 13th-annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Games on June 30 at Johns Hopkins University’s historic Homewood Field. The girls’ game will get underway at 5:30 p.m.

As a freshman, Katie had 15 goals and 5 assists; 30 goals and 10 assists as a sophomore, 60 goals and 20 assists during her junior year and this season, she's scored 58 goals and assisted on 20 others.

Jake Kelchner '18 is All-Catholic Pitcher of the Year
Left-handed pitcher Jake Kelchner '18 was among five members of the Patriot baseball named to the 2018 Philadelphia Catholic League Baseball All-Catholic Team

Kelchner was named Pitcher of the Year and All-Catholic First Team. He has posted stellar numbers this season: 32.2 Innings pitched with five wins, one save, 60 Strikeouts and an ERA of just .84.

Second Team honors went to catch Cole Chesnet ‘18, outfielder Chris Grill ‘18 and pitcher Tyler Kehoe ‘19. Outfielder Tyler Kehoe ‘19 was named to the Third Team.

The Patriot's advanced in the PCL playoffs with a 10-1 win over Roman on Monday, May 21. Kelchner was the winning pitcher.
James Dougherty '18 honored by Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame
The Delaware County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame presented its Scholar Athlete Award for Boys Tennis on May 15, to James Dougherty '18. He was honored for excelling in the classroom and on the court, as well as his service to the community. James will continue his education in the fall at Fordham Unviersity in New York City.

Carroll raises $10K for Catholic Charities
Archbishop John Carroll High School was the top fundraiser among Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, generating $10,000 for the Catholic Charities Appeal.

A celebration of Catholic Charities and special education in the archdiocese was held today (May 15) at Cardinal O'Hara High School.  Collectively, the schools raised $60,000 for special education, including St. Katherine's Day School, which is located inside our building.

Welcome Father Cavara!

Father Mark J. Cavara has been appointed to the Carroll faculty as a Religion teacher. He will also assist Father Michael Speziale in working with Carroll's student-athetes.

Father Cavara's most recent assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Anselm Parish, Philadelphia.
Class of 2018 Commencement Information

The Baccalaureate Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m., at St. Helena Church. Graduation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m., at Cabrini University.  Graduation attire and tickets will be distributed to seniors on May 24, if all obligations are fulfilled. The Graduation Memo was emailed to seniors last week, and can also be found  here . Both ceremonies require a ticket for admission.
