Dear Carroll Community,

We hope your Thanksgiving holiday was full of family, love and happiness. Before we entered our break, we came together as a community in prayer and celebration. We hope this advent season is one of rejuvenation and focus as we forge ahead to the Christmas season.

Advent Penance Services & Confessions

Our annual Advent Penance Services with the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation will take place during Theology class periods on Tuesday, December 6 and Wednesday, December 7 in the auditorium. All are welcome to take advantage of the Sacrament as we prepare our hearts and souls for the coming of the Lord. Please note that the auditorium will be closed during those school days out of respect for those in confession.

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

On Thursday, December 8 we celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, patroness of the United States. There will be no school on this holyday, so please be mindful of the obligation to attend Holy Mass at your local parish church as we ask Our Lady’s intercession on our Carroll community, our nation, and our world.

Winter Sports

Tryouts for Winter Sports

Tryouts begin Friday, November 18. Students participating in a sport for the first time this school year must complete Sections 1-6 of the PIAA form. Section 6 must be filled out by your doctor AFTER June 1,2016. Any student who participated in a fall sport this school year should only complete Section 7 of the PIAA form, unless a student required medical treatment by a physician during the fall season, in which case the Athletic Office will determine whether Section 8 of the PIAA also needs to be completed by your doctor. All PIAA paperwork should be submitted to the Athletic Office. If all the necessary paperwork has been submitted, a green card will be issued to the coach. NO STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO TRY OUT FOR A SPORT WITHOUT SUBMITTING THE PROPER PIAA PAPERWORK.

Athletic fees for fall sports were due to be paid on your Smart Tuition account in October. This fee must be paid in full in order to try out for, and participate in, a winter sport. If you have not already done so, please make payment directly to Smart Tuition immediately. Tryouts for winter sports begin on Friday, November 18, 2016.

Thank you for your cooperation.

From International Education Opportunities
At this time of year, Global Connections Homestay starts preparing for the arrival of international students who will begin classes at Carroll in the second semester.

Part of this process is readying host families and matching them with an enrolled student. Our number one request from families abroad is to have their child live with a member of the school community. Whether it be a teacher, coach, staff member, or especially a family with children attending the same school, this type of placement makes the family and student feel comfortable and safe.

Host families are paid a monthly stipend to offset costs, and we also provide a $300 gift to any referrals that result in a student placement. This gift is for current host families, or those that cannot host but know a family that can!

For more information or to apply, please email us at or call 215-259-4055.

We wish you and your family the best during the holiday season.

With gratitude,

The Global Connections Homestay Team
