Prayer gatherings help Carroll students find God in Eucharist and in each other
( CatholicPhilly.com ) - Looking around in church on Sunday at the sea of graying (or balding) heads, it’s easy to get the impression that the religion of the next generation is the “Secular Church of Me.”

But maybe that’s selling young people short.

Take Archbishop John Carroll High in Radnor, where every other Tuesday evening, students meet in the school chapel as part of the Genesis program.

The weekly sessions of worship, praise and faith sharing serve in part as a follow-up to the school’s annual Kairos retreat, a popular spiritual tradition descended from Jesuit spirituality and developed in the Brooklyn Diocese around 1965. Read more
Carroll students selected for Maguire PAFA Pre-College Program
Benjamin Buentello '19 (left) and Derrick Banks '22, pictured with Carroll president Francis E. Fox '77, have been selected as scholarship recipients to The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Frances M. Maguire Pre-College Program. Selection to this competitive program was based on student portfolios and teacher recommendations.

The 24-week, two semester drawing and painting course for high school students focuses on building observational drawing and painting skills and is taught by PAFA faculty member Roger Chavez. Completely funded by the Maguire Foundation, the scholarship includes instruction, and all materials.

Upon completion, Benjamin and Derrick will also receive three college credits.

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, founded in 1805, is the first and oldest art museum and art school in the United States. Nearly every major American artist has studied, taught or exhibited at PAFA.

Congratulations, Ben and Derrick on this outstanding accomplishment!

The Carroll Field Hockey team helped out at the Dans Down Dog and Dash at St. Katharine of Siena on Saturday, Oct. 6. The race honors Dan Schultz, whose fight against cancer and approach to life emphasized the importance of surrounding yourself with a wonderful community, remaining mentally fit and maintaining physical activity.   #CarrollCares
