Find Peace Within
December 2020 Newsletter

"You'll never find peace of mind until you listen to your heart."
                                                                                         ~ George Michael

What a year this has been!  As Covid-19 cases continue to rise and our nation reels with divisiveness, peace may feel especially elusive.  During winter, our natural instincts encourage us to wind down, take it slow and turn inward to a peaceful state of rest and rejuvenation. However, many people find themselves even busier at this time of year - finishing projects, attending holiday parties, family obligations, and other "merry" but very energy intensive activities. This year brings the added challenge of implementing Covid-safe practices as we try to maintain connection with loved ones   You may find that taking a restful pause is the last thing on your list and that finding peace (internal or external)  seems near to impossible!

Nonetheless, if you can find some peace during this season, your body, mind and soul will thank you.  And, so will your loved ones - you're likely to be more loving if you're able to connect with and bring that peace into your interactions with friends and family. So, with this in mind, we've developed a mini roadmap to finding peace during not-so-peaceful times. Check out the articles below, we hope they bring you some respite!

Wishing you a peaceful December,

articles8 Tricks to Tap into your Inner Peace

The number one thing to remember is that peace lies within you, no matter what's going on outside and it is always available to you - you need only learn how to unlock and connect with it. Although peaceful outside circumstances can help you to tap into your own sense of peace within, if you are looking to bring peace to a conflict or situation, you won't be able to do so until you first find it within yourself.

#1 - Quiet your mind. When searching for peace, quieting the external first can definitely help. Turn off your phone, the tv, the radio. Shut off and out the excess external noise in order to be able to connect with and hear what's going on inside of you. However, once you've found that quiet outside, you might notice that there may is even more going on inside...Read More

Horse Wisdom

Monica* decided to try equine assisted therapy because she was going through a divorce and found herself anxious, irritable and always ready for a fight. She was depressed, having difficulty sleeping, and anger and resentment were common themes in her day to day life.

Monica started her first session by just observing the herd. She noticed that the equines were either grazing, laying down, or just standing next to each other. After some time, one of the larger horses came in between two others, essentially disrupting their peace. One of the horses moved away.  The other horse had a different response and instead of moving, turned around and chased the "offender" away. Noticing the sudden commotion, the rest of the equines lifted their heads up in alert and moved away from their grazing spot.  Monica noticed the ripple affect one horse's actions had on the rest and said it reminded her of her husband...Read more

In the Workplace
"Be the Change You Wish to See in the World"
This famous saying of Gandhi's applies in every part of life and can be especially helpful in the workplace. Trying to change others doesn't work and frequently meets with resistance. But if you exemplify the change you want to see, the people who also want to change will be attracted to you - and if there are enough of you, a movement will be created.  If more peace in the workplace is what you're after, then start with yourself and watch as it catches on.  Keeping peace in the office is achievable by raising your awareness to the level where peace is something you value and want to nurture.
