Bath County is a popular destination for foliage seekers. With unspoiled mountain scenery and peaceful back roads, it’s easy to understand why. The elevation in Bath County means peak foliage arrives slightly ahead of central Virginia. Because fall travel is popular, consider a mid-week getaway.

After the leaves fall from the trees, Bath County enters a wonderfully serene season. It’s the perfect time for a relaxing visit that includes unplugging and enjoying the company of someone special. Do some holiday shopping at Warm Springs Gallery and the county’s antique and retail shops. Maybe visit a local spa. Of course, Bath County’s outstanding restaurants will make your stay memorable.

What's New in Bath County

When you visit Bath County during the peaceful season mentioned in the last article, you’ll find some wonderful new additions to the community.

• Les Cochons d’Or, a perennial favorite restaurant among residents and visitors, is expanding. The expansion will mean more seating and exciting new additions. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for all the details.

• Rock Roadhouse Winery will soon open a tasting room on Main Street in Hot Springs. The shop will offer their excellent wines along with cheese, bread and charcuterie. A grand opening is planned for early November.

• A new horseback riding outfitter has begun offering trails rides near Hot Springs in the George Washington National Forest. Learn more at AppalachianHorseAdventures.org

• Three new Historical Highway Markers are being unveiled in October in Warm Springs and West Warm Springs. The markers are an excellent addition to the Warm Springs and West Warm Springs Historic District, which has a self-guided tour showcasing historic sites and architectural highlights around the village.

Return of the Warm Springs Pools

The restoration work has begun on the pools, which will revert to their original name — Warm Springs Pools. After the delay caused by COVID-19, The Omni Homestead, which owns the historic property, recently announced the choice of general contractor to oversee the renovation. Anticipated completion is in late 2022.
