Peter Sprague: Deeply Rooted in Del Mar
Peter Sprague has been the recipient of many awards, including Best Contemporary Jazz Recording and Best Jazz Artist from the San Diego Music Awards, and a Best Jazz Group award from the San Diego Reader.
As a former, long-time resident who still has deep connections to Del Mar, Peter truly needs no introduction to our community.
Of his many descriptives (jazz guitarist, composer, arranger, recording engineer, producer, and life-long surfer), it’s that last one that perhaps best evokes his nearly life-long connection to Del Mar and our beach vibe. He’s played countless times at the Powerhouse and at the outdoor amphitheater at L’Auberge (almost every Christmas Eve for decades, as a generous gift to Del Mar), and he performed at the ribbon-cutting for the Del Mar Civic Center. And now, we are looking forward to enjoying his stellar music in the acoustically-excellent Town Hall at the Civic Center, featuring the equally stellar vocals of Rebecca Jade and Peter’s group of A-list musical partners: Danny Green, Duncan Moore, Tripp Sprague, and Justin Grinnell.
