CPRC Board of Delegates Passes FY 2026-2027 Budget

The Central Pines Regional Council (CPRC) Board of Delegates unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year 2026–2027 Budget at its May 27 meeting. The adopted budget totals $36,388,094 and maintains the current membership dues rate.

The budget reflects both change and opportunity for CPRC. While several temporary ARPA-funded programs are winding down, the organization is launching significant new initiatives, including a $10 million state weatherization award that will benefit residents throughout the region.

Fiscal Year 2026–2027 also marks the first year of CPRC's new 2026–2029 Strategic Plan. The budget is aligned with the plan's five Strategic Focus Areas: Thriving People & Communities, Connected Places, Prosperous & Sustainable Region, Regional Excellence & Innovation, and Organizational Excellence. This new framework strengthens the connection between member priorities, strategic goals, and budget investments.

The Strategic Plan was adopted by the Board in April 2026 and will guide CPRC's work over the next three years.

CPRC Elects 2026-2027 Board Officers

Central Pines Regional Council (CPRC) has announced its Board Officers for Fiscal Year 2026–2027, led by Wake County Commissioner Susan Evans as Board Chair.

The Board Officers, appointed annually by CPRC's 50-member Board of Delegates, will help guide the organization's mission to advance the success and sustainability of local governments throughout the region.

The FY 2026–2027 Board Officers are:

  • Chair: Susan Evans, Wake County Commissioner
  • First Vice Chair: Sheveil Harmon, Town of Angier Commissioner
  • Second Vice Chair: Chris Deshazor, Town of Holly Springs Councilmember
  • Secretary/Treasurer: Katy Garcia, Town of Micro Councilmember

The new officers will officially begin their terms in August. CPRC also extends its sincere appreciation to outgoing Board Chair Byron McAllister, Mayor of Selma, for his leadership during FY 2025–2026.

"I am honored to step into the role of Chair of this board," said Evans. "As we continue to grapple with growth and change, CPRC provides a forum for collective insight around regional planning and effective government services."

The CPRC Board consists of elected and appointed representatives from 50 member governments across the region and provides direction on strategic priorities, programs, and services that benefit communities throughout Central Pines.
