Help Shine a Light on Child Abuse Often Hidden in Plain Sight

Children’s Advocacy Centers of North Carolina supports 54 child advocacy centers (CAC) who provide services free of charge to children who have been abused. National Child Abuse Prevention Month is observed in the United States every April. April 28 is CAC Day in North Carolina. In support of all NC children who have faced maltreatment and the incredible people who provide evidence-based services to promote healing from these traumatic experiences, we need your help!

We’d love to see a landmark in every town/county lit blue (the shade of blue requested is: #080aef). It can be lit for CAC Day or for the full month! If you’re interested in participating or have any questions, please reach out to Ashley@cacnc.org for resources and so that CACNC can help to amplify your participation!

Congratulations on your successful election! The School of Government is offering the Essentials of County Government course. This course helps local elected officials transition from campaigning to governing, which can be very difficult. It covers topics such as government law and authority by clarifying roles and responsibilities, teaches about finance, budgets, and fiduciary duty, and specifies the legal boundaries of ethics, conflicts of interest, and open government.

It will highlight the exemplary habits of a high-performing governing board, which include building positive relationships with staff and external partners who influence life in your communities.
