A Weekly Newsletter from Pine Street Church
A Word from Andrew... Welcome to the Fourth Sunday of Advent (Love)... And Join us Christmas Eve, December 24, at 5pm on YouTube...
Dear Friends,

We are only five days away from Christmas morning. It is the feast in which we celebrate the miracle of materiality that God loved human beings so much that God became one through the flesh, blood, bones, and vulnerability through the baby born in Bethlehem. The wonder is gloriously described in Denise Levertov’s poem “The Annunication”:

to bear in her womb
Infinite weight and lightness; to carry
in hidden, finite inwardness,
nine months of Eternity; to contain
in slender vase of being,
the sum of power–
in narrow flesh,
the sum of light.
Then bring to birth,
push out into air, a Man-child
needing, like any other,
milk and love–

but who was God.

Today, we explore what it could be like to say YES just as Mary the mother of Jesus did; to become a bunch of modern day Marys.

Please watch (and share!) today's video worship link and be sure to subscribe to the PSC YouTube channel.

Finally, our Christmas Eve service will be at 5pm, December 24--to be premiered on our YouTube channel. Premieres are a mix between a live stream and a traditional YouTube video. They are pre-recorded, but the recordings are played live, with live chat and the ability to watch the video service more as a community at the same time.
You can arrive early (4:45pm) before the service begins and chat in real-time (Live!) with your fellow friends and Pine-heads before the service begins. We will send out more information tomorrow evening (Monday, December 21) with a special video message and and instructions about how to join the YouTube gathering at 5pm on Christmas Eve.

Finally, please be sure to share Hyphenated Life podcast episodes AND this morning's Sunday worship video with your friends and on your social media channels. Sharing is caring! If you don't wish to share, please like or comment on any social media posts sent out by Hyphenated Life, Pine Street Church, AND our Off Broadway Preschool on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

The Vogels

Herb Vogel was a New York City postal worker who never finished high school. His wife Dorothy was a public librarian. Yet on their modest incomes, they amassed one of the most significant post-1960's art collections in America. How did such modest means allow this extraordinary couple to amass such a vast and important collection, most of which now resides in the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC?

Join me as we take a close look at how Herb and Dorothy developed prescient eyes for art, acquired a massive collection consisting of nearly 5000 works, ended up courted by the greatest museums in the Western world, yet remained humble and unassuming while counting as their close friends some of the greatest names in minimalist and conceptual art.

Join me this Sunday as we continue to look through the eyes of the great collectors.

CLICK HERE to join Art Brunch at 9:30AM on Sunday Mornings.
