Dear Pine Street Church Members and Friends,

Welcome to the Third Sunday of Lent. Today, we focus on Jesus' "Temple tantrum" in St. John's Gospel. What are the tables that need to be overturned in our own lives today?

Today, you will also hear about a matching gift campaign being launched for our Off Broadway preschool! Read more about it below, and stay tuned in today's worship service for a special announcement from Preschool Chair, Cindy Owens.

Join us for worship on the Pine Street Church YouTube channel today at 10am. You can also connect at our website at: PineStreetChurch.net
With heart,
Andrew
WATCH US GROW
Bring on Spring with Beauty!
We are so excited to announce that we've been awarded a grant that, when matched, will afford us a landscape beautification project resulting in a stunning new front yard garden. What a way to usher in spring 2021!

The grant for $2,500 comes from Healthy Child Care Colorado. In order to use their generous gift we must raise a matching $2,500, at minimum, and we hope you will participate.

S2 E4 featuring the newest member of the Pine Street Band, Kristin Gornstein, is out now!

ART BRUNCH
Sundays at 9:30am
Art of the Soul - Kara Walker

In the month of February, we have looked at the collective trauma inflicted on the African diaspora in America through the institution of slavery and racism. Our previous artists - Henry Ossawa Tanner, Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringgold, and Jean-Michel Basquiat - had their own unique artistic responses to that particular trauma. During this final presentation in our series we will look at the response of artist Kara Walker.

Kara received a MacArthur Fellowship, otherwise known as the Genius Grant, at the ripe age of 27, for her powerful silhouettes dealing with the interplay of racism, gender, and sexuality. Her works are simultaneously captivating and troubling. They draw us in with their playful and childlike medium, but then push us back with disturbing and pungent imagery. As a whole, her works call us to a place of reflection and healthy conviction.

As we conclude our journey with such great artists, I hope their art will teach us ways to heal from, both our own trauma, and the trauma we have inflicted on others.

See you Sunday! And please share this event with kindred spirits.

You can learn more about each week's teachings at the WAMA Art Asylum page HERE.
