It is time for the church to fill positions on the Diaconate, the Finance Committee, and the Personnel Committee. As members of the church, you have the privilege of submitting names (including your own) for consideration by the Nominating Committee. We would welcome your input. You may also volunteer yourself for any of the other ministry teams that keep our congregation running. New appointees will begin their terms of service in August of this year.

Please send these suggestions to Mary Lester, Chair of Nominating Committee at [email protected]
It is time for the next step in the process of selecting a pastor for NDBC. Please mark your calendars for our second listening session, in which we will discuss NDBC's present.

Our committee has gathered information that provides an interesting snapshot of NDBC.
We will share it in a PowerPoint presentation during the sessions for your consideration and as a springboard for discussion. We think you will find it informative, and we very much want to have your input during these sessions. Please find time in your schedule to join us.

As ever, we ask that you pray for our committee and for our church in this critical time in our congregation's life.

Our Lenten series this year is inspired by Marilyn McEntyre's delightful Lenten devotional book, Where the Eye Alights: Phrases for the Forty Days of Lent. I have entitled the series "Lenten Phrases," and I'll be looking at things that catch my eye, primarily in the passion narratives. Keith Walker and Melinda Clark will bring the musical offerings and I'll bring prayer and a homily each Thursday of Lent, with the exception of March 4, when I will be away on vacation.

We will pre-record these services and upload them to YouTube and FacebookGod
willing!each Thursday. Here's the schedule:

March 18
Watch and Pray: Matthew 26:36-46

March 25
Jesus Was Silent: Matthew 26:57-68

We will have a live-streamed Maundy Thursday service on April 1 and a Good Friday service on April 2, details to follow.

May the God of grace and peace carry you all the way to Easter.

Daniel Headrick
Associate Pastor of Lenten Phrases
As Missions Committee members reviewed our budget for 2020, we found that we were able to use our discretionary funding to support disaster relief efforts and give additional funding to our partners providing food and housing support to area families.

We also gave funding to the independent news organization Baptist News Global, which provides news, opinion and analysis about matters of faith. Baptist News Global covers the people, events and ideas shaping American religion and culture from a perspective that is Baptist in heritage and ecumenical in spirit.  Founded in 2014 by a merger of Associated Baptist Press and the Religious Herald, a Baptist newspaper founded in 1828, Baptist News Global is a Cooperative Baptist Fellowship partner. It is funded by individuals, churches and other organizations that believe a free and unfettered source of information is essential to the integrity of the Christian witness and to the vitality of the Baptist movement.

Nancy Hall, Missions Chair
On Wednesday of this week, a small group of NDBCers gathered to visit with Professor Marilyn McEntyre, author of Where the Eye Alights: Phrases for the Forty Days of Lent. She shared with us her views on the power of poetry and language in spiritual formation. I recorded most of the session here for those interested.
The Art & Soul class continues its study of the book Left Behind and Loving It: A Cheeky Look at the End Times by D. Mark Davis.

This Sunday, March 14, we will look at the book's last chapter, I'll Be Back: the Return of Jesus' Evil Twin. Tim Getsay will lead our discussion.
