ANA\CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL BUSINESS MEETING RECAP
ANA\California represented nurses internationally, nationally, regionally, and statewide. From attending conferences across the United States to presenting as keynote speakers alongside healthcare professionals from Turkey and Ethiopia, we are always advocating for initiatives important to you. COVID-19 cancelled our always-sold-out Lobby Day... While hundreds of nurses missed out on the opportunity to network with legislators and fellow colleagues, we will hope 2021 will be different. And if not? We'll proceed like the old Mazda motto... Zoom, zoom.
Financially, the inability to host in-person events and other factors have increased our association's net income by 123%. We have also decreased our overall expenses by 2%. On the other hand, COVID-19 impacted our investment account, but marginally compared to other market indicators.
We'll also be moving into a new office in December, which will save us approximately $1,100 per month.
Over the past few months, we interviewed several California candidates for State Assembly and State Senate on topics important to nursing. However, our Endorsement Committee members failed to receive enough votes to extend our endorse any candidates.
We continue to invest in the future of healthcare and healthcare professionals by supporting students from high school all the way through to their DNP. Our Nursing Practice Director supported the Oakland-based FACES of the Future Coalition as well as continues to work with a DNP on researching registered nurses' delegation of tasks to certified nursing assistants. Furthermore, our Nursing Practice Director, Secretary, and Membership director helped contribute and edit the book,
"Beating the Coronavirus."
