The Service Authority continues to offer assistance options to customers who are having difficulty paying their water and sewer bills.

  • Municipal Utility Relief Fund Program: Funds are available to reduce unpaid water and sewer bills due to the impacts of COVID-19. We encourage customers to apply for financial assistance before 5 p.m. on January 21, 2021, by calling (703) 335-7950 or completing an online application.

  • Extended Payment Plans: We are offering extended payment plans tailored to our customers’ needs. Contact Customer Service to arrange an extended payment plan. 

  • Temporary Assistance Program (TAP): Financial assistance is also available through TAP. Customers may apply by contacting ACTS and SERVE to apply for financial relief.

  • Helping Hand Program: For those who want to assist a family member or friend who has unpaid Service Authority bills, individuals can pay any amount toward a specific customer’s outstanding balance. Visit www.pwcsa.org/helping-hand-program for more information.

  • Continued suspension of service disconnects and late fees.

The Prince William County Service Authority’s Water Art Invitational is going virtual for 2021.  

Due to limitations posed by the COVID-19 Pandemic, the water-themed art competition for local high school students will move to a virtual platform for artwork submission, judging and the awards announcement.

The theme for the 2021 contest is “The Power of Water,” and students may submit one entry in each of the four categories: painting/drawing, computer graphics, photography and mixed media. All Prince William County public, private and home school students are eligible to participate. Winning students and their art teachers will receive cash prizes provided by corporate sponsors. 

This year, students will be required to submit their entries electronically through a free file-sharing website by 4 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021. Students must also include completed entry forms with their submissions, which must be no larger than 100 MB. 

The public will be able to view all Water Art Invitational entries in an online art gallery. The winners of this year’s event will be announced on the Service Authority’s website and social media accounts on Thursday, March 11, 2021.

Are water main breaks more likely during the winter? 

Water main breaks tend to occur more frequently in late fall as the temperature of the water inside mains begins to drop and in early spring as the water in the pipes starts to warm up. To report a water main break, please call (703) 335-7990.
Be judicious in the amount of salt you apply to your sidewalks and driveways in preparation for wintry precipitation. According to Fairfax Water, a 12-ounce cup of salt should be enough for a 20-foot driveway or 10 sidewalk squares.
What inspired you to apply for your position and when were you hired?  
I saw the job posted online and decided to apply because it seemed like it would be interesting working behind the scenes of a utility that serves Prince William County. I was hired by the Service Authority in December 2016.

What do you like best about working for the Service Authority? 
It is definitely the people I get to work with. Everyone is kind and always willing to work together as a team. It’s a really fun place to work! 

What is a typical workday like for you?  
I process payroll, which entails managing employees’ timecards, pay, deductions and retirement contributions. 

What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?  
I like to hang out with my daughters, who are 2 ½ years old and 11 months old. I also like to read and go on walks with my dogs.
