Rob Gregg, a Navy veteran and PSC TRIO Veterans Upward Bound program director, will be the emcee of Memorial Day Observance at Pensacola NAS.

You might be barbecuing. You might be beaching, golfing or just chillaxing at home.


Just please take a minute at 3 p.m. to pause and focus on the price of freedom and those who paid that price. It truly is the very least we can do for those who sacrificed their lives in war.


Monday, May 30, is Memorial Day. Pensacola State College is closed for the federal holiday which honors those military service members who have died while serving in the U.S. armed forces.

PSC says farewell to nursing instructor, retired

Karen Young, right, with Dusti Sluder, Dean of the Pensacola State College Warrington campus, at a nursing pinning ceremony earlier this month. 

Karen Young already had more than 10 years of nursing experience when she joined the U.S. Navy Reserve as a commissioned officer in 1994.


By the time Young joined Pensacola State College’s nursing faculty in 2007, she had already served in numerous leadership positions in the Navy Reserve. Still, her greatest professional achievements wouldn’t come until she was well-entrenched at PSC.

New PSC art exhibition features work of instructor Jimmy Rhea – and a chance to win art pieces from machine

The artist statement for Pensacola State College sculpture instructor Jimmy Rhea’s upcoming art exhibition tells us “I am fascinated with finding the evidence of existence by drawing from the lines of our past. Objects that have absorbed a previous life or history visually attract me.”

PSC Charter Academy info sessions set for

June 2, June 7 at Warrington campus

It’s not too late for rising high school juniors and seniors to enroll in the new Pensacola State College Charter Academy, which begins classes on Aug. 8.


The College will host PSC Charter Academy information sessions from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 2 and June 7 in Room 3204, Building 3200, on the Warrington campus. 

The PSC Charter Academy is located on the bottom floor of Building 3400 on the Warrington campus.


The Charter Academy will accept 75 high school juniors and 75 high school seniors for the first two years of operation.

Higher education administrators from Peru visited Pensacola State College on May 5 to examine best practices in U.S. community colleges. Members of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program delegation were Julio Cárdenas, Eugenia Medina Cateriano, Nikoska Nicolas, Karen Stiegler, Patricia Esther Gastulo Huyatalla, Moises Obeso Valdivia and Lurdes Vilma Ordońez Cerron.
