Pensacola State College calls it the

PSC Milton campus. Sponsored by
Walmart Neighborhood Market, it takes place at
5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3. Proceeds from the festive event will be used to fund scholarships for students needing assistance, as well as pumping needed money into program improvements and additions.

For its 2019 service project, Pensacola State College’s
Robinson Honors Program
collected 1,326 books and raised $537 to cover the shipping costs to create a library for the preschoolers through fourth-graders at
Pajwenda Primary School.
Along with accepting donations of cash and books, the Scholars held several different fundraisers between Oct. 14 and Nov. 12. “I want to say thank you to everyone who helped us reach our goal,” Carey said. “There were so many of you who contributed money, purchased baked goods, donated books, and transported books from other campuses. Your support made a huge difference.”

A tribute to PSC's beloved Coach Lou Ross
|
|
Former professor established the first basketball program at the College
|
Louis Allen Ross, who, for 36 years, was a fixture at Pensacola State (Junior) College as a professor, assistant Registrar and Registrar, died Nov. 16 at the age of 98. Ross also established and coached the first basketball program at the College. He helped establish and served as Florida NJCAA Regional Director of Athletics.
PSC Athletic Director
Bill Hamilton recently posted this memorial:
Our beloved Coach Lou Ross, for which our building complex is named, has passed away at the age of 98.
Coach Ross spent his whole professional life at PSC, all 39 years of it. He was the Grandfather to the FCSAA, long-time College Registrar, started our nationally recognized athletic programs and was our first basketball coach.
The College recognized his contributions by naming our sports complex, (gym, locker rooms, offices, pool and training rooms) in his honor.
There was never a dull moment around Coach, nor were there any sad episodes. Always upbeat and cheery, he was a role model for what every Pirate Fan should be and a FAN he was!
Coach died seven days after his wife of 72 years, Jean, passed away. Several years ago they moved to Tennessee to be closer to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He helped so many along the way. What a wonderful life he led.
RIP Coach.

Want to show your school spirit while in the holiday spirit? There’s a Pensacola State College Christmas ornament that will look great on any Pirate’s tree. The ornament is just one of the many PSC-themed holiday gift items available at the
Pensacola State College Bookstore
, which held its grand reopening recently with a ribbon cutting ceremony and even a celebratory cake. “We’ve remodeled the store,” said
Beth Smithers
, manager of the Pensacola campus PSC bookstore. “We have all new carpet, new fixtures, a little student center for students to sit and hang and get on their computers.”
