PSC breaks ground on Aviation Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics Program facility 

Pensacola State College held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new 34,000-square-foot Aviation Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics Program facility on Monday, April 7, at 9 a.m. at the Pensacola International Airport. PSC President Ed Meadows and Gordon “Flash” Sprague, Chair of the PSC Board of Trustees, expressed gratitude to the many partners involved.

PSC recognizes Academy of Teaching Excellence inductees, Outstanding New Faculty Member

Six Pensacola State faculty members were honored on April 3 with induction into the College’s prestigious Academy of Teaching Excellence during a celebratory dinner held in the Molly McGuire Culinary Dining Room. The evening’s four-course dinner was prepared and served by students in the Molly McGuire School of Culinary Arts under the leadership of Chef David Langham, a PSC alumnus who will retire at the end of the semester after 16 years of service to Pensacola State College.

Nationally acclaimed poet Brenda Coultas to present poetry reading and lecture at PSC

The Pensacola State College English and Communications Department will welcome celebrated poet Brenda Coultas for a public poetry reading on Wednesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. in Room 2051 of the Chadbourne Library (Bldg. 20). Coultas will also lead a literary roundtable titled “Writing Your Way Through the World” on Thursday, April 10, at 2 p.m. in Bldg. 4, Room 401.

Sail on over to Pirate Fest 2025 on April 17 

Ahoy, mateys! Get ready for some swashbuckling fun on Thursday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside of Buildings 5 and 7 on the Pensacola campus!

Loosen the hatches and heave-ho to enjoy the booty of FREE Chick-Fil-A lunchboxes beginning at 11 a.m.. PSC giveaways include free Pirate Fest T-shirts, all provided by PSC’s Student Affairs Department.

PSC 2025 Student Art Awards Exhibition celebrates creative excellence

Jennifer Hendrix, a Photographic Technology A.S. student at Pensacola State College, was awarded the coveted Anna Award during the 2025 Annual Student Art Awards Exhibition ceremony, held April 8 in the Lamar Lecture Hall of the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts - one of the Visual Arts department’s most anticipated events of the year.

Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Alexander Crist

Dr. Alexander Crist may be a full-time instructor in PSC’s Humanities and Social Sciences Department, but he’s quick to share the credit when it comes to his teaching. “I want to give a shout-out to Dr. Tracy Peyton and the English and Communications Department for the great work they do,” Crist said, noting his appreciation for the opportunity to teach a few English classes each year alongside his philosophy courses.

Spring 2025 Faculty Recital set for April 9 at Ashmore Auditorium

PSC Professor of Music Richard Jernigan will be joined by cellist Dr. Andrea Beltran-Landers and staff accompanist Dr. Benjamin Rollings for a faculty recital on Wednesday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Ashmore Auditorium on the Pensacola campus. The ensemble will perform two trios for piano, cello and clarinet.
