Pensacola State College celebrates grand opening of Veteran and Military Family Service Center

Pensacola State College officially cut the ribbon on its new Veteran and Military Family Service Center (VMFSC) during a grand opening celebration held May 5 in Building 6 on the Pensacola Campus. Designed to serve as a central hub of resources, support and community, the VMFSC will offer vital services for PSC’s student veterans, active-duty personnel and their families. 

PSC honors outstanding students at 2025 Student Excellence Awards Ceremony

Pensacola State College honored its finest during the 2025 Student Excellence Awards ceremony held April 17 in the Jean and Paul Amos Performance Studio. The annual event recognizes more than 100 exceptional students for their academic success, leadership and commitment to service. 

Alumni Spotlight: Natasha (Suggs) Johnson

For Natasha (Suggs) Johnson, the journey to becoming a nurse began with a dream – and a bus ticket. When she enrolled at Pensacola State College in 2014, Johnson didn’t have a car. Instead, she relied on public transportation, catching a 7 a.m. bus from Century every day and returning home by 7 p.m. – spending four hours commuting daily – to pursue her education. 

Homegrown at PSC: Spotlight on Roxanne Lavelle

Roxanne Rachel Lavelle, Associate Director of Marketing/Web, is driven by a deep love for co-creating with nature and shapes her life around participating in its natural rhythms. Every hobby she pursues—tending her garden, nurturing hives, or shepherding chickens—allows her to celebrate life.

PSC Softball cuts the ribbon on Loyalty Field

Pensacola State College officially unveiled Loyalty Field as the new name of its women’s softball facility on Tuesday, April 29 – a tribute to the generous and ongoing support of Loyalty Credit Union. The newly named field is a visible reminder of what can be achieved when community partners and the College work together.

Thirteen PSC athletes sign with four-year universities

On April 28, thirteen PSC student-athletes signed letters of intent at four-year universities. Dental Hygiene students visit Tallahassee for Capitol Day

PSC dental hygiene students joined dental professionals across the state in Tallahassee on March 25 for Capitol Day. The group traveled to Florida’s capital city to support “Expanding Dental Access: SB 82/HB 21,” legislation aimed at broadening access to dental care by adding licensed mid-level providers under dentist supervision. Led by Dental Hygiene Instructor Donna Del Rosario, the student group met with several senators’ aides while there. The PSC team invited legislative aides Keri Pitzer and Davidson Oberste to visit the PSC dental hygiene clinic this summer after the legislative session ends. 

Student voices celebrated at the Kilgore Review 2025 reception

The Kilgore Review 2025 editorial staff celebrated the release of the annual literary and arts magazine during a reception held April 29 at the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts. Led by Advisor Dr. Marisa Mills, Assistant Professor of English and Communications, the event featured student writers and artists sharing their work with attendees, reading excerpts, and discussing visual art featured in the 2025 edition. “The student editors and graphic designer have full class loads, jobs, and so many commitments; it’s impressive they were able to put together this beautiful magazine, a celebration of our creative talent at PSC,” Mills said. The Kilgore Review is available at the English Department in Building 4, Room 442, the Visual Arts Department, or the Chadbourne Library on the Pensacola campus.
