We wish all runners of the Chicago Marathon the best of luck! Join us at Saturday's 5 p.m. Mass for a special blessing for your health, safety, and success.

As Sunday is the Chicago Marathon, please note there will be traffic & street closures (including Clark Street from Diversey to Fullerton from 6 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.).

Therefore, our Mass Schedule for Sunday is the following only: 9:30 a.m. (in Chapel), 11:15 a.m., 4:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.

After all Masses this weekend, our 8th graders will be selling raffle tickets for the school's Halloween party, helping them raise money for their educational trip to Washington D.C. 10% of all proceeds will be donated to St. Jude's Research Hospital.

Following our 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Sunday Masses, we invite you to Sundays Uncorked! Join us in the courtyard for a casual social to connect over drinks, bites, and conversation. Unwind before the week ahead.

At our 7:00 p.m. Mass will be the OCIA Commissioning of Newly Initiated, recognizing and celebrating those who were received into full communion last Sunday. Our next OCIA program begins Nov. 17. Learn more about OCIA here.

Be sure to bring your H.U.G.S. donations with you to Mass this weekend! A reminder, thru 10/19 we are collecting NEW Hats, Underwear, Gloves, and Socks to help our neighbors in need. We ask that the hats and gloves are thick and heavy-duty. Thank you for your support!

This weekend's Staff Reflection is written by Erika Wenson, Communications Associate. She writes, "The good news of the Gospel message is that Jesus helps, even in the leper’s haste. Even while they are rushing, Jesus still works a miracle in them. How gracious a Father is that? That even when we are too busy to give our full attention, that He still cares for us, heals us, and hears our 'Lord help' cries?"

For this weekend's presider schedule, Mass intentions, and prayer lists, please see our Worship & Sacraments section below.

We look forward to seeing you this weekend!

Sunday Sharing:

This is Your Church. Let it be Your Impact.

"Why I Give"

Reflection from parishioner Jim Fitzgerald

Saint Clement is by far the largest recipient of my charitable giving and when asked to write a brief statement about why I give, I was at a loss for words. Like many of us, I think my initial reason for giving was a sense of obligation instilled by my parents along with a desire to be seen putting something in the basket when it came around. And for a number of years, I did just that with no actual structure or sense of commitment. In many cases it was whatever small bills I had in my pocket at the time the basket made its way to me.

However, as my connection to Saint Clement grew, I felt called to increase my donations

and actually commit to making them by signing up for Sunday Sharing. Today, I can

honestly say that the financial support I make to Saint Clement has helped me grow in my faith. My donations have given me a feeling of ownership and commitment to the mission of Saint Clement and have made me want to participate in it more fully. I also like the fact that 10% of my giving goes to help deserving charitable organizations after a careful vetting process performed by my fellow parishioners.

Finally, as a member of Finance Council, I see how important regular giving is to the

operation and growth of the parish. Our beautiful campus needs constant attention and

the many programs we run during the week have to be funded. I also see how the entire

Saint Clement community is a careful steward of my donations ensuring that expenses are closely monitored and used to bring our Catholic mission to life.

Reflections like this remind us how giving transforms both the giver and our parish. Through Sunday Sharing, your commitment helps Saint Clement remain a place of belonging and transformation.

Make an impact for the community you love. Set up your recurring giving today!

If you are already giving, would you consider increasing your gift this fiscal year?

Church Restoration Plan & Relocation of Masses

Oct. 20-Nov. 7: Masses Moved to Chapel & School during Church Restoration

Our church building will be closed for restoration Oct. 20–Nov. 7. Weekday Masses and services will be in the chapel; Sunday Masses will be in the chapel and school (with added times for comfortable capacity). Thank you for your patience as we complete this historic work at Saint Clement!

With the assistance of the Archdiocese, we reviewed multiple restoration proposals and selected Daprato Rigali Studios. The Rigali family has cared for Saint Clement since the church was built, and we’re confident they will restore the church faithfully to its original beauty.

What’s happening inside (multiple teams at once):

  • Plaster & fresco team: Rebuild water- and time-damaged plaster, then restore and integrate fresco surfaces.
  • Pew team: Restore pews, install new kneelers, and refinish woodwork.
  • Fresco & window team: Clean the Tree of Life fresco; remove five sanctuary stained-glass windows for essential conservation. (Windows return this winter; in the meantime, high-quality vinyl reproductions will maintain the look and light.)
  • Stone team: Restore the marble staircase to the sanctuary—replacing missing pieces and bringing the stonework back to life.

How to help

If you’d like to support these essential projects—or make/complete a pledge to our Legacy. Community. Future. campaign, please contact Nicole Zenner or Fr. Peter, or give at clement.org/lcf. Your generosity preserves our sacred heritage for generations to come.

Fr. Peter’s Sabbatical: Renewing for Our Parish’s Next Chapter

In case you missed last week's announcement, we wanted to share again that Fr. Peter will be taking a six-month sabbatical to begin January 5, 2026.

Fr. Peter shared, "This is a strategic investment in the long-term leadership at Saint Clement. It is a time for renewal—a dedicated period for prayer, rest, and study—so that I can return in July 2026 ready to continue building on our last 6 years of growth and engagement."

Something About You: A Night of Worship with Fr. Rob Galea

Thursday, Oct. 23, 7:00-9:00 p.m.

In today’s noisy, restless world, we long for peace, purpose, and hope. Join us for a powerful evening of worship with Fr. Rob Galea—priest, musician, and storyteller—who will lead us through music and testimony into a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with God.

Through his message “Something About You”, Fr. Rob reminds us that no matter what we carry—stress, doubt, longing, or joy—there is always something about God’s love that keeps calling us back. Prayer teams will also be available throughout the night for those who wish to be prayed with.

All are welcome—come as you are and encounter the God who never stops reaching out to you.

Nearly 200 Gather to Explore Sacred Rhythm in Faith and Friendship

Thank you to the nearly 200 men and women who joined us Wednesday night for our joint Women's & Men's Executive Series on Sacred Rhythm: Synchronizing Faith, Focus, and Friendship.

Krista & JP Gallagher shared a moving story of how faith, friendship, and the strength of their Catholic communities helped them navigate life’s toughest seasons. Their witness reminded us that sacred rhythm isn’t just found in quiet prayer—it’s built through relationships, shared burdens, and the grace of walking together.

We were blessed to share small group discussions, reflecting on how—even in the midst of exhaustion and busyness—God invites us to pause, reflect, and connect.

This concludes a terrific Fall Series for the women. The Men’s Series continues next week with James Tye presenting on Grounded Leadership: Cultivating Calm Confidence in Action.

— Pope Benedict XVI

Creation Care Corner

Creation Care and Respect Life: A Connection

Life and Dignity of the Human Person and Care for God’s Creation are separate but interconnected themes in Catholic Social Teaching. These teachings call upon us to respect human life. Many examples demonstrate the relationship between environmental degradation and negative impacts on human life, which are cause for action. Poor air quality from industrial pollution and burning fossil fuels ends life prematurely for 100,000 Americans each year. Carbon pollution contributes to worsening droughts, more intense hurricanes, and flooding…all of which cut lives short or cost additional lives. Respecting human life and dignity calls us to be better stewards of the environment. In caring for the environment, we are also acting on our special responsibility to the poor, the vulnerable, and the unborn of future generations who are most affected and least heard.

Faith Beyond the Building

Latest Episode of the Magnified Ministries Podcast

In this episode of Magnified Ministries Podcast, Kevin and Amy share how their time at Saint Clement shaped their faith journey and how they continue to live it out beyond the parish walls. From Theology on Tap to online Alpha during the pandemic, they discovered ways to stay connected, build meaningful friendships, and grow in community even in uncertain times.

Kevin and Amy also reflect on how small invitations, shared meals, and mentorship helped them take their faith beyond Sunday Mass. What started as simple yeses to God’s call became experiences of prayer, service, and witnessing faith in action. Their story shows that community, hospitality, and intentional connection are key to living as disciples and carrying faith into every part of life.

Staff Prayer Intention for the week of October 12

Each week, we share a common intention that individuals, staff, ministry groups, and our wider parish family can lift up in prayer—at Mass, in meetings, during personal devotions, and on social media.

Mass Intentions

We invite you to honor a loved one who has passed or offer prayers for those who are sick or in need of blessing and healing through a Mass Intention. The names of Mass intentions are read aloud during Mass.

To schedule your intentions, please visit, email, or call the parish office. You may also schedule your intention online or via our parish App.

Out of Town Weddings (Weddings Away from Saint Clement)

Out of town weddings require permission from your home diocese. For Saint Clement parishioners, this means completing your wedding paperwork and prep with Saint Clement. The completed wedding file is submitted by Saint Clement to the Archdiocese of Chicago for approval. Saint Clement then coordinates the paperwork with local diocese and wedding church. Most couples begin this process approximately one year (and no less than six months) prior to their wedding date. If you are planning an out of town wedding, please reach out to Lori Howard as soon as you are engaged to discuss this process and to avoid any unwelcome surprises.

Saying "Yes" to Serving at Mass

Catch the latest episode of our No Filter, Just Faith podcast!

In this episode Dir. of Liturgy & Music Jeremy Kiolbassa shares how saying “yes” to serving at Mass has changed the way he experiences his faith. What starts as a simple act of helping becomes a deeper encounter with Christ and the community gathered around Him.

Jeremy reflects on how the liturgy isn’t about entertainment or obligation, it’s an active, living form of worship. Through his story, we’re reminded that every baptized Christian is called to take part in that worship, not just by showing up, but by serving with intention and love.

Whether you’ve been part of a ministry for years or are just beginning to consider it, Jeremy’s journey offers a powerful reminder: our faith grows strongest when it’s shared and lived out in service.
