Meet our New Dean: Economist and Anti-Poverty Scholar Dr. Maria Cancian
Dr. Cancian, an economist, has built a career as both a scholar and public servant across university administration and federal service. Her research on policy interactions with vulnerable populations positions her well to advance the public good as leader of the McCourt School.

Alumni Board: Call for Nominations for 2019-2020 Term
All GPPI/McCourt alumni are eligible to serve on the McCourt School Alumni Board. Board members work with faculty, administration and students to advance our shared goal of making McCourt the nation's premier policy school.
Six McCourt Students and Alumni Named 2019 Presidential Management Fellows
The Presidential Management Fellowship (PMF) is designed to attract outstanding scholars to federal service. Out of 4,505 applicants for 2019, 351 were selected as finalists - and 6 finalists were members of the McCourt community!
McCourt Student Leads Initiative to Conduct First-Ever Sample-Based Observation in U.S.
Ben Mindes (MPP '19) founded the Observe D.C. initiative to provide nonpartisan monitoring of the US election process, starting with a pilot in Washington, D.C. during the November midterms. His team did an excellent job, and we're looking forward to seeing the program grow!
The 2018-19 Whittington Lecture, "The Future of Work", was delivered by Dr. Kristalina Georgieva on November 1st. The lecture honoring GPPI faculty member Leslie Whittington touched on the World Bank's Human Capital Project, the changing nature of work, and the global need to adapt to climate change.
