Regarding God's Creation
Gen 7:19  The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains  everywhere under the heavens  were covered. ... 8:4  In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 The water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.   - NASU       (Bold emphasis added.)

            Identifying the Post Babel Dispersion

Last month Dr. Petrovitch's IGH recorded lecture gave us a general overview of modern archeology and it's basic methods. Following the overview he introduced some problems that lead to differing factions in archaeology. No, it is not true that all experts agree and it is important to understand some of the reasons why.

The Bible has played a very important part in archaeology because it has an excellent record of providing accurate information that has been verified in archaeological digs at least back to the time of King David around 1000 BC. On the other hand, problems arise when archaeologist consider the conquest of Cannon or the Exodus or earlier  events. Many archaeologist associate the pharaoh of the Exodus with Ramses II in Egyptian history but there are many things about that association that does not work very well.  Lacking a better answer many archaeologist dismiss the Biblical narrative before David's time as an unreliable mixture of mythology.

Dr. Petrovitch presents a much better approach. First, the fall of Jerusalem can be solidly connected to archaeology dated 587 BC. Second, the Bible gives definite time intervals before the fall of Jerusalem pegging the Exodus at 1446 BC and Jacob's move to Egypt at 1876 BC. These are then cardinal reference dates for Biblical events.
.
But still the Ussher chronology has many
problems relative to archaeology and the Septuagint is even more problematic. Thiele and Roger Young have followed a method of examining the ancient Jewish rabbinical records of Sabbatical and Jubilee years which is very helpful at clarifying the interpretation of Biblical statements which then begins to make sense in the light of archaeology. Petrovitch adopts this method to extend solid dates back to the Flood.

This table compares Petrovitch's results with the well known Ussher dates.

For reading beyond this very condensed description , Petrovitch recommends his 2017 book, " The World's Oldest Alphabet: Hebrew As the Language of the Proto-consonantal Script", $74 at Amazon.

Recommended online resources include a paper by Petrovitch titled "Evaluating the candidacy of Amenhotep II as the Exodus- Pharaoh" published in the Master's Seminary Journal at https://www.tms.edu/m/msj17.1.pdf   (scroll down to pg 81) and the papers of Roger Young found online at   http://rcyoung.org/papers.html

What about radiocarbon C-14 dating? Perhaps half of archaeologist think that radiocarbon C-14 dating is solid science and should be used to settle all questions of when archaeological events
occurred. The other half point to cases where C-14 seems to create as many problems as solutions. That is not always the case but there are always some assumptions involved that are not backed by solid empirical verification. Dr Petrovitch points to the general divergence in the standard calibration or correction line as the dates go further back than 1400 BC or so. Wikipedia has a helpful article here .

The first graph here shows the divergence between approximately 3000 and 25,000 year ago. The second graph between 1000 BC and 1400 BC shows that the wiggles in the curves can be quite a problem. Some of the
divergence and wiggles are physically predictable and some are not. So one can see that C-14 dating is not as certain as one might hope. One should also note that standard C-14 methods assume that there is no such thing as a Genesis Flood. If there was a catastrophic world scale flood and recovery process toward a new equilibrium then we would expect divergences and wiggles that are impractical to anticipate from conventional theory.

Note that the time line presented gives dates back past Babel to the Flood. That is something that has perhaps never been done in an archaeological context with any clarity before. Who were these people and what is the archaeology associated with them. Does it indeed mesh with the Biblical narrative?

On September 5th the IGH lecture by Dr. Petrovitch will provide much more information than just dates.  His lecture will first identify the people dispersion associated with the Babel event. Just who were these people and where did they come from? Next month on 10/3 his lecture will identify Babel itself and its people and development. Come join us and bring some friends. You will all be amazed at the awesome veracity of God's word.

Examples of Important YEC Scientific Evidences

Some major examples of physical evidence we point to include:
  • Remains of original soft tissue still found in dinosaur bones. Along with that tissue is C-14 that would decay completely away in less than a hundred thousand years, a tiny fraction of the dinosaur fossil's supposed age.
  • For many years geologists have found C-14 in fossil carbon throughout the fossil record. So, the entire fossil record is less than 100,000 years old.
  • The origin of the information and molecular machinery in the first living self-reproducing cell remains a complete enigma for biologist and biochemists.
  • In the origin of the universe, big bang theory is being recognized as a dead end by increasing numbers of secular scientists. The hypothesized inflation has nothing to start it, drive it forward, or stop it. Without inflation fatal flaws appear with the absence of predicted antimatter, magnetic monopoles, or any means for the whole universe to come to the same precise background temperature. Then the formation of the first stars is as enigmatic as the origin of the first biological cell. Dark matter and dark energy are as enigmatic as the galactic motions they are needed to explain.
At the root of all standard science are many assumptions that may be quite incorrect. At the top is that there is no God. Another is that present process can be used to explain everything in the past. When we look at a canyon we are taught to assume the river at the bottom cut the canyon. But perhaps tectonic events made the canyon and there is a river at the bottom because water always flows downhill. At the root of big bang theory is a pure assumption that has been named the "Cosmological Principle". Perhaps inaccuracies there are responsible for the big bang's multitude of problems.

There is more about the role of assumptions in science found on our website here. There are many more resources on young earth and young universe evidences here.
