What a night! Wednesday was a testament to the power of jeong (정) and all that is possible when we come together as a community. Together, we raised over $2 million in support of our work to build safe, strong, and thriving communities!

Twenty-one years ago, the Korean American Community Foundation was an idea, and a gala like this was unimaginable. But at the close of our 20th anniversary last year, we awarded nearly $2 million in grants to 21 unique nonprofits tackling the most pressing issues facing the most vulnerable Korean and Asian Americans, reaching a milestone of $12 million in cumulative grantmaking since our founding. We are proud to invest in the bold vision and leadership of our grantee partner organizations.

  • Joon H. Kim reflected on what it means to belong in America as an immigrant and why jeong makes us stronger as a community and as a country.

  • Teo Yoo spoke about what jeong means to him as a diasporic Korean who was born and raised in Germany.

  • Seongwon Kim shared her story and why she is serving and empowering undocumented immigrants like her as a Program Manager at our grantee partner organization, the MinKwon Center for Community Action.
