Topic: The Power of Maglev
Speaker: James Jordan, Chief Executive of the Interstate Maglev Project
Sponsor: Readiness Resource Group (Transportation & Defense)
The Biden administration has plans to improve our rail system and I am convinced they will. But because we are a very big country, we need to do better than European rail systems, and we can. Maglev is a system that will be less expensive to build, less expensive to power and faster than anything they have built in Europe. This is exciting technology that the Japanese Rail company copied from our scientists and incorporated into their Maglev version.

On Friday March 19th we had as our speaker the president of the American Maglev initiative James Jordan. It was an extremely interesting and information filled session. The concept of using the interstate highway system for routes that would serve America was discussed as a working possibility. That concept was first introduced by Senator Patrick Danial Moynihan
On the left is a depiction of how the Maglev could be configured to be compatible with the existing Interstate System.
The Maglev would be capable of carrying heavy loads. The magnetic fields are extremely strong and can carry fully loaded trucks and move them across the country at 300 MPH

As a result of the low energy use (about 1/13th of electric trains) cand lift capabilities it could conceivably carry water to states that are experiencing droughts

Another remarkable feature is the ability to stop without employing conventional brakes. The braking of the vehicle is accomplished by reversing the energy fields that propel it forward. Using that method they can actually stop in a shorter distance than a conventional train.

All the electrical apparatus that propels the Maglev are imbedded in the concrete guideways. There are no exposed electric guideways. There are no overhead catenaries that can fail or ice-up
