Alumnus Jamie Bachant ’75 Reflects on Pivotal Moment in FVS History
James “Jamie” Bachant ’75, a member of the last all-boys class at Fountain Valley, reflects on the School’s transition to a co-educational model in the fall of 1975. As he prepares for his 50th reunion this spring, Jamie recalls his time as a boarding student on the Prairie where joint classes and theatrical productions with a local all-girls school had become a weekly highlight.

Nic Jenkins ’17: Pushing Boundaries and Pedaling to New Heights
For Class of 2017 alumnus Nicholas Jenkins, mountain biking quickly evolved from a mere hobby into an unstoppable passion that shaped his lifelong pursuits. From leading the FVS mountain bike team to a top-four state championship finish – and conquering the prestigious Dakota Five-0 Mountain Bike Race during his college years – to tackling the challenges of law school, Nic continues to push boundaries both in the classroom and out on the trails while remembering to have fun.

Fountain Valley School Leads the Way in Voter Education
Earns 2024 Eliza Pickrell Routt Award for Voter Participation
Every four years, Fountain Valley offers a course aimed at educating students on the U.S. electoral process and preparing the next generation of young voters. On November 4, KOAA News caught up with several “Decision 2024” students and their teacher, Simon Walker, to discuss the importance of voting. Following Election Day, FVS was the proud recipient of the 2024 Eliza Pickrell Routt Award annually recognizing Colorado high schools with 85 percent or more eligible seniors registered to vote. In 2024, 100 percent of all eligible students within the FVS Class of 2025 practiced their right to vote!

Fountain Valley Summer Climbing Camp for Teens Grades 7 to 10
Fountain Valley – home to the tallest high school climbing wall in the nation – is proud to offer two week-long climbing programs to day campers in grades 7 to 10 on its 1,100-acre campus this June. Help us spread the word! Campers will learn the fundamentals of the sport, including communication, belaying, tying in, top rope climbing, bouldering, and movement from experienced instructors in a personalized setting. Advanced climbers are also welcome and will be provided with individualized coaching to suit their needs. Families who register by February 28, 2025, will receive a 10% discount on the cost per day camper!

RK Cafe Spices Things Up: Fresh Renovations and Bold New Menu
Located in the Frautschi Campus Center, The RK Cafe and its menu underwent some renovations and transformations last fall to enhance the overall student experience. New specially featured food items since The Roadkill Cafe’s grand re-opening in October have included taro boba tea, fried chicken sandwiches, and fish and chips, just to name a few!

Contributing to Morgan Library’s “Librarian’s Legacy” Exhibit on Display Now Through May 4
Fountain Valley School is honored to be part of the "Librarian’s Legacy" exhibit now on display at New York City's Morgan Library & Museum. The exhibit, celebrating the institution's first director, Belle da Costa Greene P '36, features a special section dedicated to FVS. Included, museum patrons will discover letters exchanged between the librarian and the School’s founding headmaster, Francis M. Froelicher, concerning Belle’s adopted son Robert “Bobbie” MacKenzie Leveridge Jr. ’36, who had enrolled at FVS in the early 1930s. Also on display is this photo of Bobbie on campus in the Hacienda Courtyard.

Whether it’s your fifth or 75th anniversary graduating from FVS, we hope to see you on the Prairie for Reunion Weekend 2025. Fountain Valley’s ninth Head of School Megan Harlan will be hosting FVS’s annual Denver Reception at Mayor Johnston’s mansion, Cableland, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. MT. Introducing Jeff Clark as FVS's New Director of Advancement | |
Fountain Valley School is pleased to announce Jeff Clark as director of advancement, effective January 20, 2025. Jeff brings nearly three decades of experience designing and executing fundraising strategies for small colleges, independent schools, and nonprofit organizations nationwide. His extensive experience in the academic sector, with past employers ranging from independent boarding and day schools like Stevenson School and Cincinnati Country Day School to higher education institutions like Knox College, a nationally ranked liberal arts college in Galesburg, Ill., will be an invaluable asset for FVS. | |

Jeff most recently served as Chief Development Officer for Youth on Course – a California-based nonprofit dedicated to providing young people access to life-changing opportunities through golf. Throughout his seven-year tenure with Youth on Course, Jeff increased revenue by over $7 million and grew youth membership by 1,200+ percent.
