Online Prairie

Third Sunday of Advent | December 15, 2024

Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might come among us; and, because we are sorely hindered by our sins, let your bountiful grace and mercy speedily help and deliver us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

Stay Informed

An exciting year is ahead for the Diocese of North Dakota as we search and prepare for the election of the 12th Bishop of North Dakota, so help us keep everyone well-informed. As you know, The Prairie [what you are reading right now] is our electronic newsletter for current and coming events. The Sheaf brings us larger offerings that provide thought-provoking and informational readings.

If you are a Prairie recipient, please be sure you are subscribed to the Diocese’s quarterly printed newsletter, The SheafThe Sheaf currently only reaches 450 households, so we know there is room on the mailing list!

Email Jess in the diocesan office to get your name added to The Sheaf mailing list, or to ensure you reserve a digital copy. The next edition of The Sheaf will come out in February 2025.

All past editions of The Sheaf, going back to September 2020, are found on our website. Take a cruise down memory lane when you get a chance!

Diocesan Treasurer

Are you, or someone you know, interested in serving in a meaningful way in the Diocese? We are in need of a treasurer. The treasurer is the Chief Financial Officer of the Diocese, overseeing all aspects of diocesan finances, without having direct hands-on responsibility for the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions related to diocesan finances.

Here are a few of the responsibilities:

  • Ensure our activities and financial records do nothing to jeopardize the 501(c)3 status
  • With the Diocesan Administrator, prepare reports to the Finance Committee, Bishop, and Diocesan Council
  • Oversee the investment and management of all funds
  • Report on the financial affairs of the Diocese at each Annual Convention
  • Ensure timely reporting on all grants received within the Diocese
  • Oversee the Finance Committee as chair
  • Attend Council meetings as an ex-officio member

Questions, please email Bp. Brian.

Episcopal Shield Medallion

On the first Sunday of Advent at St. Sylvan's, Dunseith, Council member Tyrrell DeCoteau's aunt, Shirley Belgarde, presented The Rev. Kim Fox with a beautiful beaded Episcopal shield medallion, made by Shirley's daughter, Letina Azure. Kim is deeply honored by this gorgeous gift and the trust it represents.
