Fr. Hal and Michelle Weidman's

Last Sunday Service - January 29

Fr. Hal has accepted a new call to become Rector of Christ Episcopal Church in Valdosta, Georgia. The people of St. George’s wish Hal and Michelle well in their new journey and cannot thank Hal enough for his faithful leadership. St. George’s has thrived since 2019, when Hal started as a part-time rector for St. George’s and part-time Canon Missioner for the Diocese of North Dakota. In February 2022, Hal received confirmation as a full-time rector from Bishop Ely. On Hal and Michelle’s last Sunday, a special liturgy was held, and Hal recognized the incoming and outgoing Vestry members. Finally, a meal catered by Hal and Michelle’s favorite restaurant, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, was served, and the Piecemakers presented Hal and Michelle with a handmade quilt. There have been many successful initiatives, and St. Georgians are very optimistic about the future. The Vestry looks forward to our February annual retreat led by Steve Godfrey to see how we can make the transition smooth and peaceful.

Until our paths cross again, God Bless you, Hal and Michelle,

Faithfully,

Joanne Lassiter, Past Senior Warden

Deacon Beth Lip and The Rev. Hal Weidman

School for Ministry

Lay and ordained ministry leaders and potential leaders (we are all leaders!) of all experience levels are encouraged to participate in the School for Ministry, a diocesan learning community for shared leadership. Leaders representing 11 congregations gathered in Bismarck in September to learn about theology, scripture, history, and ministry. These topics will be further developed in 10 Zoom meetings December through April, as detailed below. All are welcome to join these Zoom sessions. Contact Steve Godfrey for the Zoom link. Each session is intended to last about an hour, perhaps a bit longer for questions and conversation. It is not expected that everyone will attend every session. Feel free to pick and choose, though you may want to commit to all of the sessions of any one of the topics. For more information, contact the Rev. Harvey Henderson or the Rev. Steve Godfrey. The next gathering will be April 28-30, 2023, at Maryvale, near Valley City.
