SHARINGS from LEADERSHIP
A Column by the Leadership Team
As described on the Leviticus webpage -- In December 1981, a group of religious leaders from the Tri-State Coalition for Responsible Investment met to discuss a new model for addressing the needs of the disadvantaged. They saw that, if they pooled and invested their resources together, they could do more to reflect and advance the faith-driven values they shared: ensuring that the economically poor could live with dignity and self-determination; using their shared resources for the benefit of those with less; and protecting and sharing the earth’s resources. In May 1983, 27 of the religious congregations pooled $360,000 in capital to form the Leviticus 25:23 Alternative Fund. We have invested in the Leviticus Fund from the very beginning. This October will mark the 40th Anniversary of this fund.
Recently, we received a copy of the Leviticus Fund’s Annual Report which shares exciting news of how our investment along with other Religious Congregations and individuals is making a difference in people’s lives. We hope that you will take the time to read the Annual Report and discover how the Preaching Continues…

Juneteenth/World Refugee Day
Celebrated This Weekend
Thanks to all who were able to join us on Saturday, June 17th for our Congregation's commemoration of Juneteenth and World Refugee Day. The weather did not cooperate but we had a contingency plan! We gathered in our Motherhouse Chapel for our prayer, reflection and words shared with us from Suffolk County Legislator Jason Richberg, Yanira Chacon from St. Brigid's Church, Parish Social Ministry Office and Pedro Chevez Barrera, a cousin of Gillian Kessinger of the Opening Word from Nicaragua. We also received musical, spiritual help from George Williams, the uncle of Administrative Assistant Candace Campbell - a deacon of Ephesus Church of God in Christ and Carlos Lazarous and Amy, his wife. Our time together graced us with new insights.

Tuition Assistance for the School Year: 2023-24
Many years ago a Congregational Scholarship Fund was established for those students attending a Catholic School. Any member of the Congregation is welcome to submit the name of a student needing tuition assistance. These names, then, become part of a "lottery". Ten names are randomly selected for a tuition assistance grant of $1,000. So, please consider anyone who might benefit from this opportunity. On the front of a 3 X 5 index card please write the name of the student, the school's name, and your name and phone number. On the back of the card, please indicate in two or three sentences your association with the student and how you came to know of the need. Please send these cards to Candace Campbell at the Motherhouse. Cards are due by July 13th. You will be notified by July 20th if your submitted name is selected. What another wonderful way our generous benefactors help the preaching to continue! Let us pray for them and for all those who need this generosity. Pictured above are students from Trinity Regional School in East Northport.

Response to the Immigration Letter
Thank you for your response to the Faith Leaders' letter supporting asylum seekers on Long Island. The Long Island Jobs with Justice AMOS Committee asked for more signatures condemning attempts by LI government officials to illegally block asylum seekers from entering our counties and towns. The photo shows that many people of faith including a few of our sisters showed up at the Suffolk County Legislature offices in Riverhead to show support and present the letter.
