Welcome to all the folks who came to my last talk at SIBL last night! This year marks my 10th speaking there ( click here for my first talk in June 2010 ), and I am so grateful to all of you who found me by attending one of my free lectures over the years - it's been quite the journey! I hope to do more when they move into the new building, but it might be a while. In the meantime, stay tuned for other branches and places I'll be speaking.
With all that's going on in the outer world and your personal world, it's easy to get overwhelmed and let fear, anxiety and stress take hold, but with a little awareness and discipline, you don't need to succumb to any of that. Last weekend YouTube's algorithm served up some Eckhart Tolle videos on my feed which were a perfect antidote and the antithesis to everything else being broadcast at the moment. Staying in the present requires practice and discipline, but it's one of the best qualities you can cultivate for yourself especially in the current times, so I thought this PGG (appropriately from ten years ago ;) might be helpful. You can also check out this Instagram post with some calming phrases , and watch the PGG Video of the week to remind you to pay attention to what you're feeding your mind and emotions. Have a restful weekend and as always, please feel free to contact me with any comments about anything I'm doing. Big hug <3 Kristina
P.S. Have you checked out the new website for my coaching services? Check it out here (It's a soft launch/work in progress so let me know what you think :)
" I love your PGG newsletters - one of the only ones I actually read in its entirety. They are excellently written, and spot on. Thanks for being so inspirational and reflective!" ~ Tom D .
The Present of Presence
Originally published November 16, 2010

A human mind is a wandering mind, and a wandering mind is an unhappy mind," was the conclusion of a Harvard study whose research was conducted using an iPhone app. It is a sentiment that many religions and philosophies have proclaimed for centuries and can best be summed up by the popular phrase “Be here now.”

If researchers had a window into our minds, they’d see that we are almost never fully engaged in what is right in front of us , whether we’re thinking about the past or future, or simply not focused on the task at hand — and that causes unhappiness .

According to Andrew Bernstein’s book The Myth of Stress , it’s not the activity or situation that is the stressor, it’s our mind’s perception and reaction to the situation that causes the stress . By recognizing the reality of a circumstance and truly comprehending why it is happening, you can greatly reduce your adverse response to whatever is taking place.

I am always talking about process and “understanding where you’re at.” Most unpleasant situations you find yourself in are impermanent; by simply accepting that they are temporary, you can greatly increase your sense of inner peace and balance. Because life is constantly in motion you need to learn how to “go with the flow,” knowing that “this too shall pass.”

Remember that if you show up mentally, as well as physically, to that meeting, event or conversation, you’ve already done half the work, and the Universe can meet you halfway to create whatever it is you want or need.

Out of chaos always comes clarity. Need a little help living happily in the unknown and keepin’ it in real time? I can be a human app that checks in to show you how to make sense of and make the best out of any situation you find your present self.

If you're looking for some compassionate candor and a dose of tough love, Kristina is the coach for you.... I came into this really lacking clarity and walked away with a sense of relief. Can't recommend her enough. ~ Kevin R.

"Kristina patiently helped me to discover and embrace my true north. I was stuck in a past identity that blocked me from the person I wanted to become."
