Dear Resurrection College Prep Community,

As we enter this season of Advent and prepare to celebrate the joy of Christmas, it is a perfect time to reflect on how our community continues to live out the Lasallian Core Principles. The events and achievements of recent weeks beautifully illustrate our shared commitment to Faith in the Presence of God, Concern for the Poor and Social Justice, and Respect for All Persons.

Faith in the Presence of God is woven throughout our holiday celebrations. The Holiday Band Concert filled the air with the joy of the season, reminding us of God’s presence through music and fellowship. The Library Christmas Party offered students a chance to gather in a spirit of faith and festivity, while the spirited Resurrection vs. Regina game exemplified sportsmanship, camaraderie, and the recognition of God’s grace in our daily lives.

Our commitment to Concern for the Poor and Social Justice shines through our students' actions. The National Honor Society’s Wright-Way Rescue Supply Drive reflects our dedication to caring for God’s creation and supporting those in need. We are also proud to celebrate our Illinois State Scholars, whose dedication to academic excellence equips them to make a positive impact in the world.

In all we do, we uphold Respect for All Persons. Our recent Art Showcase highlighted the diverse talents and perspectives within our student body. The exhilarating iFLY Field Trip provided a hands-on learning experience that encouraged students to explore new horizons, and Signing Day honored the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes as they prepare to take their talents to the next level.

These moments remind us that the Resurrection experience is one of faith, service, and respect. Together, we continue to build a community where our students are empowered to grow in knowledge, compassion, and integrity.

As we prepare for the birth of Christ and the promise of a new year, let us carry these principles in our hearts and give thanks for the many blessings in our Resurrection family.

Wishing you a blessed Advent and a joyful Christmas.

Dr. Rick Piwowarski

Resurrection Reflections

Day of Giving Recap

On behalf of Resurrection College Prep, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s Giving Tuesday. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised $15,905 from 269 donors, more than double what we raised last year! This remarkable achievement is a testament to the strength of our community and the deep commitment you all have to support our school.

Your contributions are not only a reflection of your belief in Resurrection’s mission but will also help us continue to make vital investments in the future of our school. All proceeds from Giving Tuesday will go toward funding ongoing capital improvements and enhancements at Resurrection over the next year. These funds will help strengthen our academic and extracurricular programs, improve our facilities, and ensure that our students have the resources they need to thrive. Making History

Resurrection College Prep is thrilled to share that some of our Intro to Business students were featured on the cover of Edison Park Neighbors magazine! The article highlights their incredible journey in creating RESpresso, our new student-led coffee shop. These talented students poured their creativity, innovation, and teamwork into designing a welcoming space for the Resurrection community. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication, and the article beautifully captures their experiences and the impact of this project. Be sure to check it out and celebrate this amazing accomplishment with us!

iFly Field Trip

Our STREAM I and II students recently had an exhilarating field trip to iFLY, where they took their classroom learning to new heights! During the visit, they had the chance to explore the cutting-edge technology behind iFLY's wind tunnels, learning how they make indoor skydiving possible.

Through hands-on demonstrations and discussions about the science of airflow, gravity, and physics, our students gained a deeper understanding of the principles that drive these innovations. They also learned how engineering and design play a critical role in making these experiences safe and thrilling. This exciting day sparked our Bandits’ imaginations and inspired them to consider the endless possibilities in STEM fields!

NHS Supply Drive

This holiday season, the National Honor Society students at Resurrection College Prep collected donations for Wright-Way Rescue to support our four-legged friends in need. Students gathered essential items such as food, toys, and supplies to help animals at the local rescue organization find loving homes. It was a wonderful opportunity to spread holiday cheer and make a positive impact on the lives of animals in the community. Donations were accepted as students walked into school for the day, and the effort helped make the holidays brighter for many furry companions.

Christmas Concert

The Annual Christmas Concert, a cherished tradition, took place on Sunday, December 8, in the Little Theater, hosted by the Notre Dame and Resurrection Bands. The Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, and Percussion Ensemble performed a wonderful selection of holiday classics and Christmas favorites, creating a festive atmosphere and getting everyone in the spirit of the season. It was a memorable afternoon filled with joyful music and celebration, one that we eagerly anticipate each year!

Locker Painting Project

The locker painting project has officially begun, and crews have been working diligently during the break to make it happen. Our hallways are getting a fresh, vibrant update as the lockers are transformed with a bold new red color. This exciting change will not only brighten the space but also bring a renewed sense of energy and school pride to our community. We’re thrilled to see the progress and can’t wait to unveil the completed look when students return!

Spreading Holiday Cheer

During Choice Week, our students created beautiful homemade ornaments, which they later brought to Ascension Village Living Center to decorate Christmas trees with the residents. The thoughtful gesture was met with excitement and gratitude, as the residents truly cherished each ornament. It was a special moment of giving, where our students spread festive cheer and built lasting bonds with the wonderful people at Ascension Village.
