COVID-19 UPDATE:
Dear Priory Families,
The well-being of our community is a central priority to The Priory. We heard earlier this week the announcement from Mr. Legault that Montreal is now officially on the 'Red Alert' level because of rising cases of COVID-19.
I understand there is heightened concern about the risks and potential spread of the coronavirus. As a school, we continue to take informed and appropriate measures to manage possible disruption to school operations and student learning. We will continue to follow our Reopening Plan https://www.priory.qc.ca/mypriory, and as an extra precautionary measure, students will be asked to wear a face mask inside the school, including in the classrooms and common areas of the school, at all times until the authorities change the alert level to "orange" for our region. Students may remove their face mask while outside on recess and during a physical activity or at mealtime. To minimize face-to-face contact during lunchtime, removable plastic partitions are being used in all classes.
We remind you to remain vigilant in following the Public Health guidelines:
- If your child shows symptoms of COVID-19, please keep your child home, inform the office (514-935-5966) and avoid contact with other people.
- After 24 hours, re-evaluate the situation to see if there is any change in their symptoms.
- Before sending your child back to school, call 1-877-644-4545 and follow the guidelines provided to see if your child must be tested, or if they can return to school.
- If your child has a known close contact exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please keep your child home, notify the school and call 1-877-644-4545.
- Continue to wear masks, respect the ban on home gatherings, social distance and avoid gathering in groups.

Please refer to the following handout for a list of symptoms and how we can keep the virus from spreading.

We have demonstrated time and time again that we are Stronger Together - L’Union fait la force. I want to recognize and thank everyone for the important role they play in caring for our collective well-being and safety.
As always, should you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the school.
I hope you and your family are safe and healthy.

Remembering Terry: This year’s Terry Fox Run was met with enthusiasm and a heartfelt dedication to Terry Fox and his example of hope, unity, courage and strength. Adapted to follow COVID-19 protocols to ensure safe participation, students and staff proudly went on a 40-minute walk, within their classroom cohort, and paid tribute to a Canadian hero who taught us invaluable lessons about the importance of helping others.
Enjoy the following video highlighting our first school-wide event of the year!

Birthday Books and The Priory School Foundation
Next week's Tuesday morning assembly will be an extra special one, because we will be giving away our September Birthday Books!
Birthday Book Assemblies are memorable for all, because at some point in the year, each and every Priory Student will receive a book. This was not always the case. For most of the 20-year history of the program, only the children of families who paid the Birthday Book fee received a book.
This changed in 2014 when The Priory School Foundation partnered with the Priory Library with the promise that, if the donations collected into the "Library Fund" were never enough to cover the cost of books for all Priory students, The Foundation would provide the difference. Parents were also rewarded with a tax-charitable receipt for their support of this cherished program.
If you would like to support reading and birthdays at The Priory and make a gift to The Priory Foundation's Library Fund, please click onto the link below. You will be brought to The Foundation's online CanadaHelps profile. If you have a specific book request for your child, you can include it as a message with your CanadaHelps donation. You can also send a quick email to our Library's manager, Davey Lahteenmaa at dlahteenmaa@priory.qc.ca. Otherwise, he will always take the time to find your child at a recess or lunch period and talk to them about their favourite books! Thank you, and happy reading!

Parent Information & School Directory: We hope to be able to share our handy School Directory with the Priory community in October. We ask that you please take a few moments to fill out the questionnaire, which also serves as an important contact/data verification for the office and teachers.
We ask that you please submit your questionnaire online by Friday, October 9, so that we may get your information to your child's Class Parents and the PPA for school events.
Thank you for your cooperation.

HEP A & B and HPV Vaccinations: Last year's Grade 4 students were scheduled to receive their second vaccine in April, but because of the Covid-19 shutdown, vaccinations were cancelled. We urge Grade 5 parents to please read the letter in the link below for more information about their child's second vaccine.
We have also been informed that the CLSC will be in contact with us to schedule a date for the Hep A & B and HPV vaccine for this year's Grade 4 class. Once we receive a date, we will inform parents.

Autumn is here! Weather permitting, our Priory students enjoy the outdoors everyday, during morning and afternoon recess, lunch recess, Physical Education and After School. On cooler days, please send your child to school with warm clothing (jacket, hat and gloves).

Potter Boutique: The Potter Boutique is operated exclusively by our amazing Priory Parents, who provide uniform services throughout the school year. It has been a busy start to the school year, and your patience is much appreciated as we sort through the new orders and exchanges.
To ensure the safety of our PPA volunteers, items returned for exchange are placed in a basket and processed after approximately 10 days. Refunds are processed, and new items are then processed with a new transaction. As such, please be sure to include a new ordering form with payment information.
Thank you for your support.
