Welcome
Thank you for reading our newsletter once again! We have extremely high open rates for a newsletter and we owe it all to you!!!!!!! I am constantly striving to make this something people are excited about opening so I always enjoy feedback on what you like or don't like. Please feel free to email me at hspear@ezmicro.com.

This month I would like to highlight something that has nothing to do with technology but something that I am really looking forward to - Boo Fest!

I personally never heard of Boo Fest before this year. After hearing it described to me I thought it was such a great idea that I would like to share it with everyone. It is an event designed for special needs kids to be able to have a fun, safe, trick or treating experience.

Imagine how difficult it might be for some children to go trick or treating. Many special needs children are in wheelchairs or have other disabilities that make it difficult to knock on all their neighbors doors. As so many children look forward to Halloween and running around our neighborhoods, it can be very discouraging to other children who want to be involved but can't move around as well. If you are a parent of a special needs child, the last thing you want to do is see your child sad because they can't participate in something. This event provides candy, crafts and activities all in one easy accessible area! I'm excited to be part of something to make kids smile!

EZ Micro will be sponsoring one of the areas there and I can't wait to see all of the kids in their costumes. I spent part of today picking out a bunch of little toys in a treasure chest so that every kid can walk away with a prize.

If you are interested in going to this event (or sponsoring) you can find more details at https://lvbg.org/events/boo-fest/.
Finally, a Cylindrical Smartphone
By Eric Limer

As more and more smartphones are just becoming rectangles of screen, the race is on to find something new and strange and to convince you that it's good and that you want it. Foldable phones? They are on the way. But what about a cylinder? Sure! Why not!

The MagicScroll was developed by researchers at Queen's University in Ontario, Canada and is pretty impressive from an engineering standpoint.

This Mini Mobile Robotic Printer Is Actually Cute And Useful, Can Fit In A Backpack Pouch

Portable printers have made working on the road a lot more convenient, letting you pull document printouts anytime the need for one arises. And while the current crop of portable printers work well enough for mobile workers, this Mini Mobile Robotic Printer shrinks it down to an even more manageable size.

Made by Israel-based Zuta Labs, it's an entirely fresh take on mobile printers. I

Looking for some good reading?

The Go-Giver

By: Bob Burg, John David Mann

I'll admit, I stole this book from someone else before they got a chance to read it! My boss bought this book as a gift to another friend of mine and I "borrowed" the book before he could give it to him (with my bosses permission of course, I don't actually steal :)). I read the book in just a few days. Partly due to the fact I couldn't put it down and partly because it's a quick read. If you are looking for a new way to incorpate a giving heart into the business world - this book is well worth it.

Each month we will feature one of our employees favorite apps! If you are like me you are always looking to see what is out there.

Project Evo

I came across this app and it really interested me.  I can't give you a review yet because I just started it.  I will just tell you what is on their website "A customized planner and app designed for your unique Brain Type that helps you get the focus, flow, and freedom you need to thrive." If you try it and like it, I'd love to hear about it from you!

Bug-Sized Robot Competitors to Swarm DARPA's 'Robot Olympics'
By Mindy Weisberger
Picture the Olympic Games — except instead of human athletes, the competitors are all insect-sized robots.

That's the scenario proposed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), representatives said in a statement. The group is seeking innovative designs for robots that measure just a fraction of an inch, and the tiny bots will compete against each other in a series of contests of strength, speed and agility — similar to those that try the limits of human achievement in the Olympics.

Dig out your rollerblade kneepads for Segway's new ‘self-balancing roller shoes'
By Lulu Chang

If you thought Heelys (those wheeled sneakers that every preteen in the United States used to careen about in) were odd, you may want to take a seat. Segway is here to prove that when it comes to strange methods of transportation, it's the top dog. Meet the new Segway Drift W1s. They're self-balancing roller shoes, and can be compared to a hoverboard that just lives on your foot. Well, I suppose it would technically be two halves of a hoverboard living on each foot.

MindRDR Lets Users Control Google Glass Using Your Thoughts

Because wearing Google Glass around town wasn't strange enough, somebody made a software that combines it with an EEG biosensor headset to turn you into an even more strange-looking tech nerd. Seriously, it turns you into futuristic cyborg supersoldier levels of weird-looking. Called MindRDR, the app lets you activate Google Glass' camera shutter using nothing but your thoughts. But forget the looks part for a minute, this is not a bad idea at all.
