A Note from the Property Resources Team

During the quiet summer months, our department was thrilled to welcome a new face to the team, Sabrina Brathwaite! Sabrina is the new operational hub for the Property Resources team. She’ll be keeping our department goals moving forward smoothly and helping parishes navigate all of their property needs. We’re so glad to have her on board.

If you’ve been outside at dusk lately, you’ve probably heard the honking of Canadian Geese getting organized for their journey south, a sure sign that fall has arrived. Just like the geese, this season is a great time for us to get organized, take stock of what we need, and figure out who can help. To help you do just that, this month’s Property Workshop is all about the tools and resources available to you. We’d love to see you there.

Our team is here to help - don't hesitate to reach out!

Focus Areas: Licensing & leasing; department administration; insurance inquiries; Canon 6 inquiries.

Focus Areas: Diocesan-controlled portfolio (i.e. closed churches); deferred maintenance, BCA and capital planning consultation with parishes.

Focus Areas: Fund/grant applications; property and project consultations; governance and approvals process; property strategy and execution.

The Journey of a Bell

This very dusty and dirty bell was recently removed from the floor of the bell tower at one of our closed churches. It is now making its way to the west coast of Canada, where the hope is to have it fully restored and installed in a church that needs a new bell. Stay tuned for the full story of this travelling bell, including the name of the church where it once called home.

Don't forget about Markplace, our online store. It's a space where church surplus items can find new “homes.” This initiative is designed to help parishes discover and repurpose items from disestablished or amalgamated churches.
