Grandparents’ Day, This Thursday, Oct. 19
Today is the last day to register guests for Grandparents’ Day this Thursday, October 19 from 8am-11am. We’ll send a more specific schedule to registered participants on Wednesday. We need many parent volunteers who are interested in volunteering; check out opportunities here. Due to extremely limited space, we are unable to accommodate any parent attendees other than volunteers. Please contact us with any questions.
Please note: Students will not gather in the worship center this Thursday at the beginning of the day. All students will go directly to their homeroom or first period classes upon arrival, unless they are assigned to Grandparent Group A which will take place in the gym. Group A students will place their books in their rooms and come directly to the gym with their grandparents. School and Grandparents’ Day activities will begin at 8:00am, and chapel will be held later in the morning.

Ms. Boyd has been teaching at Providence since 2018. She graduated from UMHB with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and from UT Austin with a Master of Music with an emphasis on Vocal Pedagogy. She has taught Latin to elementary and middle school students since 2009.
“Classical education for me has always been a love of learning and exciting curiosity. There is always something new to learn about God's creation and the knowledge we have discovered over the years. I love the classics and mythology. They always excite, inspire, and stir up the imagination. Making connections with ancient history to modern and learning derivatives give us boundless topics of conversation and observation. We are planting and nourishing lost skills with all of this. [Additionally], at Providence, I see parents that are aligned with our vision for the students and graduates. They are so supportive and truly I love that I can work alongside them. To be a part of a community of educators and families that love Christ and desire to put him first in all that we do strengthens my walk and constantly pulls me back to our true purpose of working for the kingdom in whatever God has called us to at the moment.”

Mrs. Vaught has been teaching at Providence since 2021. She began working as a newspaper reporter and editor as a teenager and completed her degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at Abilene Christian University.
“Classical education cultivates critical thinking. My favorite way to exercise those brain muscles is Conspiracy Theory Friday, which involves examining how media coverage of an event shaped public perception. I've been so delighted and encouraged to see that families have laid solid foundations for evaluating information. My journalism elective students have demonstrated a knack for discernment. Teaching at Providence is an uplifting experience; I see Godly, wise future leaders in every class.”
