What's New at IHS?
IHS, 2-1-1 HELPLINE and several partners are working with T-Mobile's Project 10Million to connect local students to the internet via free Wi-Fi hotspots generously provided by the company.

To qualify, a household must have at least one K-12 student in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).

Over five years, T-Mobile has committed to supporting 10 million eligible families who are enrolled in the National School Lunch program. Once enrolled in Project 10Million, these families will receive 100GB of FREE internet data per year for five years and a FREE mobile hotspot, plus the opportunity to purchase devices at a low cost.

People in rural areas face major obstacles to health and the ability to seek treatment, access healthy food and social services help as many lack transportation options.

Upcoming Event: Tour De Keuka This Weekend

United Way of the Southern Tier will host its first Tour de Keuka charity bike ride on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, around picturesque Keuka Lake.

More than 160 riders are registered for the event, which leaves from the Hammondsport Fire Station and takes participants around Keuka Lake on 45-, 60-, or 100-mile routes.

The 7th annual Southern Tier Women’s Financial Conference scheduled for October 23, 2021 will feature keynote speaker Syble Solomon in person.  The event will be offered both in person and online from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Center on Park Avenue in Corning.

Youth Mentoring of the Southern Tier, a program of Family Service Society, Inc., is seeking community members to bowl in their annual fundraising event, Believe in Youth Bowl-ARama. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 12:30pm-2:30pm and 3-5 pm at Crystal Lanes in Corning.

Join Cooperative Extension of Steuben County Executive Director Tess McKinley, and Lisa Zawrotny of Positively Productive Systems, who will show you how to tap into your phone’s power in their online class, Easy Ways to Save Money on Your Phone at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15.  
The Cornell Farmworker Program and the Finger Lakes Community Health, are co-sponsoring two free webinars (one in English and another in Spanish) with Dr. José Canario, Ellen Hey, NP, Juan Saldana 3 farmworker leaders on Tuesday Aug. 24, at 4:30 p.m. on the topic of COVID-19, the vaccine, variants and booster shots.

IHS Corporate Ally John G. Ullman & Associates, Inc. will hold a workshop on college planning on Aug. 27 at 12p.m. at the Wimodaughsian Free Library in Canisteo, hosted by Certified Financial Planner Shirley Nelson CFP, JD.
