Compliance Training Deadline Next Week Wednesday, April 16

Completing the mandatory compliance training helps UT Southwestern promote a culture of excellence, safeguard the institution’s reputation, and create a safer workplace. All employees – faculty, staff, and students – should have received an email on March 3 from Taleo Learn with the training link.

Fast Approaching! SOAR Intensive R Grant Writers Workshop Application Deadline

The SOAR Intensive R Grant Writers Workshop application deadline is April 29. Sessions begin June 16 and extend to September. The program includes eight virtual sessions and a mock study section, with grant sections reviewed collaboratively by facilitators and peers.

2025 UT System AI Symposium: Call for Abstracts Extended

The deadline has been extended to April 18 for researchers, clinicians, educators, students, and administrators across the UT system to submit abstracts on diverse applications of AI. The symposium will be in Houston May 15-16. Learn more on their website.

The Parkland Medical Executive Committee has recognized Aaron Van Wright, M.D., as one of Parkland’s Unsung Physician Heroes.

Presentations

NEW! At UT Southwestern's Women in Science and Medicine Advisory Committee event, the Brain-Body Perceptions Team presented posters on the impact of trauma for adolescents with eating disorders, brain reactivity and connectivity for adults with eating disorders, social perceptions in adolescents with eating disorders, measurement of eating disorder symptoms in both adults and adolescents, and the impact of a novel intervention targeting social processing in eating disorders. Team members include five faculty (Carrie McAdams, Jayme Palka, Melanie Sherman, Urszula Kelley, Jasmine Ghannadpour), one psychology graduate student (Natalie Noebel), three psychiatry residents (Kaylee Schrader, Gisela Gonzalez, Vivianne Oyefusi), five medical students (Sarah Gibson, Linh Lieu, Fariah Mahmood, Rohini Kallianpur, Christine Zhang), and two coordinators (Ava Ryan and Sharon Arthur). Those in bold were available for the photo.

Carmen Cruz, Psy.D., presented a full day CE workshop on Multicultural and Relational Supervision for the post-doctoral residency training faculty at the Community Health Center in Middletown, Connecticut. 

Neuropsychologists Christian LoBue, Deborah Gonzalez, Emmanuel Rosario Nieves, and clinical fellow William Goette partnered with Metrocrest Services and the Alzheimer’s Association at a community event to provide memory screenings and interactive sessions about how the brain works, memory loss, practical strategies for cognitive wellness, and local dementia resources, in English and Spanish.

The KL2 Scholar Program application deadline is June 9. Positions start as early as September 15 for Junior Clinical and Translational Science KL2 Faculty Investigators who show great promise toward becoming independently funded clinical and translational science investigators.
