Honoring Perth Amboy's Emergency Personnel With A Special BBQ Lunch

On September 18, Alameda Center's campus was a hub of activity. Local police officers, firefighters, emergency medical staff, military personnel, family and friends turned out in droves at Alameda Center's annual appreciation event for our local heroes. Due to the stormy weather, the festivities were held indoors in our large Physical Therapy room.

"We do this barbecue annually to express our gratitude to our community's First Responders. These men and women are on the front lines every day and this is the least we can do in the way of thanking them," said Sheila Coleman, Administrator at Alameda. "Perth Amboy is a great community, comprised of great people that are quietly helping others."

Amidst balloons, music, great food, and some great prizes ... these heroes were feted and honored in a truly festive celebration. What better way to say thank you?!

Celebrating The Power of Rehabilitation This National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, September 16th - 22nd

Every year, a week in September is designated to mark the powerful impact of physical, occupational and speech therapy. At Alameda Center, our dynamic team of rehab professionals help individuals overcome their physical limitations to once again accomplish the normal tasks of daily living.

Kudos to these wonderful therapists for helping our patients and residents move forward in their lives.

FORWARD IN REHAB:
Meet Mary Ann Mendes
A Recent Alameda Rehab Graduate

Dizziness due to vertigo threw Ms. Mary Ann Mendes off balance, but an intense regimen of physical and occupational therapy at Alameda Center got her back on her feet. Ready to return home with independence restored, Ms. Mendes proudly walked the red carpet in Alameda's lobby to the cheers of her supportive therapy team.

"I was admitted to Raritan Bay Medical Center due to problems in my right ear which threw me off balance. After one week in the hospital, I was transferred to Alameda Center to start therapy to improve my balance. Since then I feel I have much better balance today. I would like to thank the nursing staff/ CNAs for the excellent care I received during my stay at Alameda Center. Thank you to the therapy team - you all have been great!"
