A Look Back at 2017
2017 was an amazing year at Doctors Care. The beginning brought serious doubt as to the future of healthcare, particularly for the population we are honored to serve. But we didn't let uncertainty slow us down! While Doctors Care continued to anticipate changing needs for our patients and clients, we accomplished a great deal in 2017. For example:

Tele-health was introduced in the clinic to extend provider scope and referral resources.
Dental integration in the clinic went into full gear with over 1,000 patient visits for dental hygiene services.
Five new volunteer providers joined our staff and volunteers in the clinic.
A Premier Sponsorship Program was piloted that helped 165 low-income people gain access to medical care.
A psycho-social screen process was implemented for patients to identify other life challenges. Those with positive results were referred to Patient Navigation for personal assistance, which in many cases was provided on the spot.

Look for more details about highlights and accomplishments in the 2017 Doctors Care Annual Report, coming out later this spring.
A New Year Brings New Challenges
We have much to look forward to in 2018! While still anticipating the winds of change that come with healthcare, our steadfast goal is to be a safety net that provides for those who need us - whatever that need may be. To be better prepared, a new Strategic Plan has been developed to lead the organization into the future. The plan is designed to be a guidepost towards improving the programs and services we offer to the community. In addition, an ongoing project with the Nonprofit Finance Fund, provided by the Colorado Health Foundation, is adding skilled expertise and guidance into the future of Doctors Care. By helping the organization examine the true costs of delivering programs, and providing insight into proper analysis for considering change, it provides the perfect support and alignment to our Strategic Plan.

2018 also marks a major milestone for Doctors Care - 30 years of providing access to quality healthcare and services  in the community! We plan to celebrate Doctors Care's 30th Anniversary in the months to come. Look for a big announcement in February on how you can support our efforts and be part of the celebration!
New Women's Health Services
With the recent addition of new volunteer providers Linda Kottman, DNP, WHNP-BC and Dr. Robert Henderson, OB-GYN, Doctors Care is happy to announce a new Women's Health Services program in the clinic. The new services include:
- Contraception Services

- Other Women's Health Issues

We are thrilled to be making these new services available to new and existing Doctors Care clinic patients.
Charity Navigator
Doctors Care is pleased to announce our 6th consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America's largest independent charity evaluator. This is the highest possible rating and indicates that Doctors Care adheres to best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way.

Only 5% of charities evaluated have received at least six consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Doctors Care exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its area of work.

January 2018
Welcome  New Behavioral Health Provider, Kathy Butler

Doctors Care welcomes Behavioral Health Provider, Kathy R. Butler, LPC. Kathy  earned her Bachelors degree with a focus in psychology from the University of South Florida and began working in community based programs as a case manager. Prior to Doctors Care, she worked with pre and postpartum women and transitioned to community mental health as a therapist.

Kathy is already having a big impact on Doctors Care's behavioral health program by joining our medical providers in many well patient visits. Her presence adds a layer of support to those with behavioral health issues, and can help address symptoms before they develop into more serious conditions. Kathy will also soon be providing counseling and therapy sessions to patients as well.

Welcome Kathy!
Welcome  New Board Member Dakeana Jones-Bishop

Dakeana Jones-Bishop is an HR Vice President at Delt Services, and is active in the community. She has served on other boards and utilizes her skills and resources to help educate parents on resources for their adult children with disabilities.

Dakeana has a long history with Doctors Care. Her mother was a onetime patient of Doctors Care and a longtime volunteer, providing new backpacks, lunch boxes and school supplies every year for Doctors Care patients and families. Dakeana often helped her mother in this endeavor, and since her mother's passing, Dakeana has continued the legacy of giving each new school year.

Welcome Dakeana!
